Hitting another drastic low, the BJP-ruled MCD has refused to make its annual audit reports public since the last four years to cover-up its corruption. AAP Senior Leader and MCD in-charge Shri Durgesh Pathak stated — BJP hasn’t made a single MCD audit report public ever since it was caught doing corruption to the tune of Rs 6,000 crores. In 2017-18, the auditor had raised objections on payments of Rs 3,153 crores by North MCD, Rs 1,252 by East MCD and Rs 1,696 crores by South MCD. If we add up this amount for the last 4 years, it points towards a scam of 30-35 thousand crores under the BJP. Want to ask Adesh Gupta — what scams is he hiding by not publishing the audit reports?
Shri Durgesh Pathak said, “Whenever the MCD initiates its budget proceedings, it is also supposed to present an annual audit report. But the BJP ruled MCD has outright refused to present audit reports of the current tenure. AAP has continuously raised its voice against this, even writing letters through our Leaders of Opposition but to no avail. The BJP has given the same excuse of Covid as a reason for its inadequacies. But the question arises that if the budget can be drafted, if the Delhi Government itself can release its audit reports, then what roadblocks does the BJP ruled MCD face? The last time they released an audit report was in FY 2017-18. Back then too, it was a mere 38 page document.”
Talking about the audit, he said, “In his 2017-18 audit, the auditor raised objections in payments to the tune of Rs 3153 crore under the North MCD. In the East MCD, he raised objections on payments worth 1252 crore and in south MCD, 1696 crores. In simple terms, the auditor found corruption and scams of almost 6,000 crores in the MCD in 2017-18. I am not making this claim, this is a mere citation from MCD’s audit report. If such reports come out each year, there’ll be more such revelations. After 2017-18, they stopped publishing these audit reports. This clearly points towards a huge coverup exercise on their scams. The BJP is scared of this falling out in the open so they’re not publishing these audit reports. For the last 5 years, the so-called ‘new-era administration’ of the BJP has been fooling the public. They’re so deeply involved in corruption that they refuse to make the audit reports public. We’ve written letter after letter, filed complaints with the Mayor, but not one BJP leader came forward to provide transparency.”
He added, “The BJP is in power for another 10-12 days, does the public not deserve to know where their money has gone? What’s even worse is that they’re afraid of publishing a report made by their own auditor. Even if we take the 2017-18 figure of 6,000 crores as the benchmark, it will come out to corruption of at least Rs 24,000 crores in the last 4 years. I want to ask Adesh Gupta, the BJP Mayor, Standing Committee Chairman, and all their supporters — what are you trying to hide? Has the quantum of your corruption reached an extent that you’ve to give up all legalities and moralities to hide it? If there are objections of about 6000 crores in the audit report of just one year, then one can figure that these people have been committing scams of about 30 to 35 thousand during this entire tenure.”
