Recently, the concerned employees had sought the intervention of Shri Kejriwal in the matter and had requested him to raise their concerns. These employees have been waiting for years to get regularised and a proposal regarding the same is pending for approval with the Union Home Ministry for over two years. The employees have gone from pillar to post seeking expediting of the process but there hasn’t been any action on the same by the Centre. In view of the grievances of the employees, the CM has taken up the matter with the Centre and asked for the employees to get permanent jobs as soon as possible.

In a letter addressed to Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal stated, “I would like to draw your kind attention to the issue of approval of Recruitment Rules of Group ‘C’ posts in NDMC for grant of permanent employee status to Regular Muster Roll (RMR) employees of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). There are around 4500 employees in NDMC who are presently working as RMR and are waiting to become regular employees of NDMC.”

He added, “The proposal for approval of draft Recruitment Rules of Group C posts in NDMC had been sent to MHA vide letter dated 25.09.2020 after approval of the Council in its meeting on 4th August 2020 and subsequently revised proposal was sent vide letter dated 16.04.2021.”

He further wrote, “These RMRs are waiting for many years for their regularisation against the existing vacancies in NDMC in the erstwhile group ‘D’ (now upgraded to Group ‘C’ posts). These employees have devoted a number of years as TMR & RMR in NDMC and are suffering for long for want of regularisation as regular employees of NDMC. Keeping in view of the urgency of the matter, it is kindly requested to issue necessary directions for speedy approval of the draft recruitment rules of Group C so that these RMR employees can be made regular NDMC employees and would resolve their long pending grievances.”
