The BJP government in Gujarat still has time to accept their faults and work on improving government schools otherwise the public is intelligent enough to choose the right party that will work for strengthening the education system in Gujarat- Manish Sisodia

NEW DELHI/GUJARAT

Tall claims of BJP led-Gujarat Government about its public education system fell flat as the Aam Aadmi Party Senior Leader and Delhi Deputy CM Shri Manish Sisodia exposed the reality of government schools in the state during his visit on Monday. The sights at the government schools were dreadful and school infrastructure was life threatening for students and teachers. Cracks in the roof and walls were telling the stories of government’s apathy aloud. Shri Manish Sisodia who also holds the portfolio of Delhi’s Education Minister reached the villages of Bhavnagar, Gujarat to review the educational development in the state and work done by BJP in the past 27 years. Shri Siodia said, “This is the reality of government schools and the public education system in Gujarat. Ahead of my pre-announced visit they shortlisted the best government schools and hung a few smart boards which no one in school knew how to operate. But they were unaware of the fact that I might visit other schools too. As soon as I reached schools in the interiors of Bhavnagar, the picture of the government’s apathy was clear and the truth of their efforts of showcasing fake smart schools was exposed.”

Shri Manish Sisodia added, “not even a single classroom had desks and benches. When I spoke with the students and teachers in the government school they said that there are not enough desks and benches in the school to accommodate all children. Thus students are made to sit on the floor. In a class I inspected, there were about 30 students and only three sets of desks and benches pushed aside in the corner of the room. Not only this, washrooms and drinking water facilities were at its worst and were efficient enough to spread an outbreak of disease. There were webs of electricity wires dangling overhead in classrooms, posing a threat to the lives of children. This is the reality of government schools in Gujarat which are headed by Education Minister Jitubhai Vaghani.”

He continued, “Despite such a poor state of government schools in Gujarat, Mr Jitubhai Vaghani was arrogant enough to say that ‘those who do not like the education system of Gujarat can leave for Delhi.’ Today I visited one school in Gujarat, that comes under the constituency of Education Minister Jitubhai Vaghani and was shocked to see the dilapidated condition of government schools. Imagine about all the schools in other parts of the state. Before coming here I had a sense that the BJP government might have improved schools in the past 27 years, since their education minister is giving such arrogant remarks about the public education system, but schools here are struggling for even basic facilities like blackboard, desks and benches, washrooms, libraries etc.”

He said, “Gujarat government says that there are about 18,000 villages in the state and Delhi is a much smaller state in comparison to Gujarat. It is easier to manage schools in Delhi. I challenge them to come to Delhi and see the infrastructure and contest the elections. The reality will come out on its own. The BJP government in Gujarat still has time to accept their faults and work on improving infrastructure of government schools otherwise the public is intelligent enough to choose the right party that will work for strengthening the education system in Gujarat.”

On the other hand Chief Minister of Delhi Shri Arvind Kejriwal tweeted- “It is very sad to see this plight of the government schools of Gujarat. It has been 75 years since the country got independence but still we could not arrange for good education, why? If every child will not get a quality education, then how will India progress? Let’s take a pledge today to work in the direction of providing quality education to each and every child in India.”
