New Delhi:
Food and Civil Supplies Minister Shri Imran Hussain today chaired a high-level meeting with Commissioner (F&S), senior officials of Delhi State Civil Supplies Corporation (DSCSC) to review the distribution of free ration to National Food Security Act(NFSA) and Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) beneficiaries.
The Minister directed the officials to ensure timely and continuous pickup of foodgrains from FCI godowns and transport to the respective Fair Price Shops (FPS) for smooth distribution of ration to the ration beneficiaries in Delhi. He directed the Commissioner (F&S) to personally ensure the transportation of ration to various FPSs and submit daily reports regarding the supply/distribution of food grains to FPSs.
Shri Imran Hussain also directed DSCSC officers to ensure timely lifting of foodgrains from the FCI godowns, so that the ration stock for both NFSA and PMGKAY schemes be lifted within stipulated time and the distribution for both be done simultaneously.
The Food and Civil Supplies Minister also directed the officials to ensure that the opening of sale should be regular and timely. He said that the process of distribution of foodgrains at the Fair Price Shops be done strictly following social distancing norms. To ensure Covid appropriate behaviour at Fair Price Shops, Shri Imran Hussain directed that deployment of Civil Defence Volunteers be ensured at the time of distribution of foodgrains at the Fair Price Shops.
The Civil Defence Volunteers were deployed by the Delhi Government during the COVID-19 pandemic period for effective management at Fair Price shops and also to ensure social distancing norms and orderly distribution of free ration to the beneficiaries. Civil Defence Volunteers also assist in managing the crowds at ration shops and ensure that the beneficiaries follow COVID appropriate behaviour when they come to the FPS shops. Civil Defence volunteers also assist the elderly and the differently-abled beneficiaries in getting their entitled quota of ration.
F&S Minister Shri Imran Hussain directed the FSIs/FSOs of respective zones to check the opening balance of food grains in various FPSs on a regular basis. He also directed that the FSO and FSI remain vigilant in their respective zones and ensure that no malpractices are carried out in the distribution of foodgrains.
The F & S Minister further added, “under the visionary leadership of CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal, no beneficiaries will be deprived of getting free ration in the city. The Delhi Government is fully committed to provide free ration to all the beneficiaries. The underprivileged of Delhi have been receiving free ration ever since the pandemic struck in March-April 2020 and needy people are getting free ration through their ration cards and also those not having ration cards.” Sh. Imran Hussain further directed officers to ensure expeditious redressal of beneficiaries’ grievances without any delay.
