The Kejriwal Government on Saturday provided a Samman Rashi of Rs 1 crore to the families of 3 Corona Warriors who martyred protecting Delhiites. Revenue Minister Shri Kailash Gahlot visited the homes of all the martyrs and handed over cheques to their families in person. Shri Kailash Gahlot met with the families of Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Dr. Parvinder Pal Singh and Shri Surender Kumar who lost their lives while serving during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Sanjay Kumar was Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Munirka and Dr. Parvinder Pal Singh was CMO at NSUT, Dwarka. Shri Surender Kumar was a Trained Graduate Teacher and was deployed on COVID 19 duties. The Revenue Minister handed over a cheque of Rs 1 Crore each to the families of these corona warriors as an ex gratia assistance while promising them all possible help from Delhi Government.

While providing aid to the families, Shri Kailash Gahlot said, “I completely understand and acknowledge that no amount of money would be able to compensate for the loss of a loved one, but this financial assistance is a way for the Kejriwal Government to pay tribute to the sacrifice made by these Corona warriors. We are proud of our Corona Warriors who have served the people with their lives. The Delhi Government salutes the sacrifices made by these people in saving others during the pandemic. The families of the corona warriors who died in the pandemic have been assured that the Delhi Government will always be there to assist them. We would like to express our gratitude to all our Corona Warriors who have served the people while putting their own lives at stake.”

A brief about the Corona Warriors who lost their lives while serving the people

Dr. Sanjay Kumar

Dr. Sanjay Kumar was serving as a CMO in Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) Munirka. He was assigned the responsibility of Vaccination & Testing for COVID 19 for UPHC Munirka. Dr Sanjay lost his life due to COVID 19 infection while serving patients at the centre. He is survived by his Mother Ms. Savitri Devi, Wife Binita Kashyap and family.

Dr Parvinder Pal Singh

Dr Parvinder Pal Singh was posted as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at NSUT Dwarka. NSUT had organised COVID-19 test Camps in April- May 2021 and Dr. Singh was treating all patients including COVID-19 patients. He was also part of the team that visited houses in NSUT campus for treating COVID 19 patients. He got infected while on duty. He is survived by his wife Ms. Kuldeep Kaur & family.

Shri Surender Kumar

Shri Surender Kumar was a TGT posted in Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Daulatpur, Delhi. He was deployed on COVID 19 duties to look after the Hunger Relief Centre, South West Distt. He got infected with COVID 19 while ensuring no one sleeps hungry in his region. He is survived by his wife Ms. Madhu Bala & family.
