F&S Minister Imran Hussain directs officials to expedite the construction of 60 additional classrooms at Zeenat Mahal School

Food & Civil Supplies Minister and MLA of Ballimaran, Shri Imran Hussain chaired a meeting with Regional Director (Education), DDE Central, DDE North, DD Zone along with heads of various government schools of the Ballimaran assembly constituency. The meeting was also attended by officers of Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) and PWD. The Minister reviewed the progress of various issues and facilities provided to the school children. The Minister exhorted the concerned authorities to expedite the efforts towards converting the classrooms into smart classrooms, providing modern sports facilities, multi-purpose halls and other necessary infrastructure of the school to strengthen the education delivery system in the constituency.
Shri Imran Hussain directed the DUSIB and Education Department officers to examine the feasibility of establishing a Delhi Government school on vacant land located opposite the Idgah of Ballimaran assembly constituency so as to better subserve the educational needs of the area.
The Minister said that due to the high population density of the area, the proposed school will be able to benefit thousands of students, particularly girls, who reside around the vicinity and with the construction of this school, the burden on the other school will also decrease. The land that is being identified for the proposed school belongs to Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) and has been lying vacant for the last many years. The Minister further added that there should be no delays in the project due to improper inter-departmental coordination.
During the meeting, the officials of the education department informed the Minister that a proposal to start a second shift has been approved in three schools – Chasma Building School, Zeenat Mahal and Idgah School. The step was taken keeping in view the educational needs of the residents of the locality. The Minister directed the Regional Director (Education) to install smart boards in classrooms to aid imparting education with modern technology.
The Minister also asked the officials to build additional 60 classrooms at Zeenat Mahal School and directed the officials of the PWD to expedite the proposed construction of classrooms. The Minister directed the officials to ensure that the school class rooms should be equipped with modern infrastructure and have the best modern facilities for the students.
Shri Imran Hussain also lauded the education department of the Delhi Government for its ‘incredible achievements’ over the last seven years. Over the last few years, the Delhi education model has become well known and has been lauded throughout the country and elsewhere. Under the visionary leadership of CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Government has increased Delhi’s education budget to 25% and worked since day one to transform the education system in Delhi.
