Promotion of Dairy Industry

Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying is implementing following Dairy Development schemes to promote the dairy across the country :

  1. National programme for Dairy Development (NPDD)
  2. Dairy Processing & Infrastructure Development Fund (DIDF)
  3. Supporting Dairy Cooperatives & Farmer Producer Organisations engaged in dairy activities (SDPFPO)
  4. Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AHIDF)

To make dairy industry a profitable business, assistance is provided in the form of Grant-in-aid and low interest loan besides contribution by the Cooperatives, Farmer Producers Organization (FPO), Self Help group (SHG) etc under NPDD for quality milk infrastructure in all States, strengthening of milk procurement system, processing and marketing infrastructure in aspirational and backward districts in the State of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Uttarakhand. In case of DIDF loan assistance is provided to cooperatives milk producers companies, registered SHG/FPO for creation and modernisation of milk processing and value addition capacities in the form of loan assistance with 2.5% interest subvention. Under Supporting Dairy Cooperatives and Farmer Producer Organizations (SDCFPO), working capital loan is provided to the cooperatives and milk producers companies with 2% interest subvention and additional  2% interest subvention on timely payment. The scheme AHIDF provides loan assistance to FPO, Private Companies, Individual entrepreneur and section 8 companies with interest subvention of 3%. The schemes DIDF, SDCFPO and AHIDF are for implementation in all the States.

  The major districts where the largest numbers of dairy industry are functional includes Sehore, Shajapur,     

  Rajgarh, Dewas, Ujjain, Ratlam, Mandsaur, Gwalior, Bhind, Morena, Jabalpur,

Chindwara, Seoni, Balaghat & Sagar
