ALL INDIA KISAN COUNCIL MEETING OF AIKS BEGINS IN HYDERABAD

The first physical meeting of the AIKC of the All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) after the victory of the historic farmers’ struggle, began on January 10 at the Comrade P Sundarayya Vidnyan Kendram at Hyderabad. The AIKS leadership from all over the country is present for this meeting, which will conclude tomorrow.

The AIKS flag was hoisted by President Dr Ashok Dhawale. Joint Secretary N K Shukla placed the condolence resolution paying homage to all martyrs and departed leaders.

The Presidential Address was delivered by Dr Ashok Dhawale, who, after congratulating all members and the AIKS as a whole, for their admirable role in the farmers’ struggle, outlined the international and national challenges before the farmers of India. He particularly targeted imperialism and corporate communalism symbolised by the BJP-RSS regime and its crony corporates. He called for the resounding defeat of the BJP in the ensuing state assembly elections.

AIKS General Secretary Hannan Mollah placed the GS Report in four sections: 1. The Agrarian Situation, 2. The Historic Farmers’ Struggle, 3. Organisation, 4. Future Tasks. He underlined the great significance of the victorious farmers’ struggle and stressed the need to greatly strengthen the united and independent movement and to consolidate and expand the organisation.

Now enthusiastic discussion is going on on the GS Report. Members are placing their rich experience of this farmers’ struggle and the admirable role played by the AIKS in 23 states of the country. They are also placing their views on the future direction to strengthen the farmers’ struggle.
