BJP leaders have been selling MCD lands across Delhi for pennies; this is BJP’s new way of looting Delhiites: Manoj Tyagi

NEW DELHI:

The Aam Aadmi Party today took out padyatras in all wards of Delhi against BJP Councillor’s corrupt act of giving away MCD land to her husband. All of AAP’s LOPs and Councillors led padyatras in their wards to educate the people about corruption in the BJP-ruled MCD. The party reinforces that the MCD’s constitution forbids the act of a Councillor leveraging their post to their family’s benefit. Despite constant protests from AAP, the BJP ruled MCD hasn’t taken any action on the matter, said North MCD LOP Shri Vikas Goel. AAP won’t back down; protests will continue till MCD doesn’t act on the issue, stated South MCD LOP Shri Prem Chauhan. BJP leaders have been selling MCD lands across Delhi for pennies; this is BJP’s new way of looting Delhiites, said East MCD LOP Shri Manoj Tyagi.

AAP’s North MCD LOP Shri Vikas Goel stated, “BJP Councillor Manju Khandelwal handed over land in Ashok Nagar to her own husband Rajendra Khandelwal. The land is worth 50 crores in market value but was given to him free of charge. The Aam Aadmi Party raised this issue in the North MCD session, but it was not given any heed. We protested numerous times and demanded that BJP return the land to the MCD, but instead of taking action, they stated flatly that there is no harm in doing so because the land was given in the name of an NGO. When you say this, the wrong does not become right. The BJP-ruled MCD is deceiving the public by giving away government land using an NGO as a farce. Whereas the reality is that they are giving land to BJP’s own leaders. This is criminal. This is illegal. This is why today we took out ‘padyatras’ in our respective wards and educated the people about how the BJP is looting them. All over Delhi, the public agreed that the BJP is completely tainted with corruption and they need to throw them out of power.”

AAP’s South MCD LOP Shri Prem Chauhan said, “MCD elections are approaching, and the BJP knows that this time the people will vote them out. As a result of this fear, BJP is devising new methods to rob the public and MCD in order to fill its pockets. BJP is giving away land to its own people for free under the name of NGOs. This includes hospital lands, school lands, parking lots, and a variety of other properties that the BJP either sold for pennies or gave away for free. When we demanded action, the BJP councillor stated unequivocally that there is nothing wrong with this; everyone does it. By going on a padyatra today, we told to the public how BJP leaders are looting the public. I want to tell the BJP ruled MCD that the Aam Aadmi Party is not going to stop. We will continue to protest till action is not taken on this matter.”

Shri Manoj Tyagi, AAP’s LOP of East MCD, said, “The rules of the corporation’s constitution forbid any councillor from benefiting any member of their family. Surprisingly, the BJP councillor and the corporation’s mayor say there is no harm in doing so. This is not only illegal, but it is also a novel method of carrying out a large-scale robbery devised by the BJP. Even before this, the corporation’s BJP leaders had sold the public lands several times. We’ve always objected to this. As part of our protest, we went on a padyatra in our respective wards today. We demand that the BJP-ruled MCD act on this and liberate the people’s land from the grip of their leaders.”
