He stated — Corruption is the biggest woe of Uttarakhand today; BJP and Congress governments have together ransacked the state. AAP National Convenor and Delhi CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal said, “It has been 21 years since the conception of the state of Uttarakhand – where the Congress ruled for some 10 years, and the BJP for 11 years. Today the state of distress that Uttarakhand faces is due to the flagrant misgovernance and incompetence of these two parties. Over the past 21 years, the people of Uttarakhand have witnessed nothing but corruption – plaguing every department in their respective governments. If we give the same parties another 5 years to continue wreaking havoc on our sacred Devbhoomi, nothing will change. They will not mend their ways in any form or manner, and hence the next election will witness the same empty promises and slogans. But none of their claims will translate into reality. On the opposite side to this stands the Aam Aadmi Party, which has been in power in the Delhi Government for seven years. AAP is a fairly new political party. In 2015, the people of Delhi gave the Aam Aadmi Party a chance for the very first time, and watched the party make unprecedented progress in the state. Delhi’s government schools and hospitals have been transformed into striking examples of excellence. In Delhi, we built a large number of Mohalla Clinics. Previously, there were frequent power outages in Delhi, but now power is available 24×7 and the electricity bills amount to zero. This way the Aam Aadmi Party has brought prosperity to the state of Delhi on all fronts.”
He continued, “You can contact all your friends and relatives in Delhi and inquire whether Arvind Kejriwal has done any work to reform the National Capital. If you believe that Kejriwal hasn’t made any progress in Delhi, don’t vote for me in Uttarakhand either. If someone tells you that Kejriwal has delivered on his promises, vote for me in Uttarakhand. I understand that no party has the courage to make such a big claim with such confidence that they call me in my other state and ask. Can Congress make that call today in Punjab or Rajasthan and ask if the work has been completed? This is a historic election with the potential for significant change. In the last few years, we have employed one million individuals in Delhi. The most pressing issue in Uttarakhand today is unemployment. Corruption is rampant everywhere. Without a bribe, no government job is available. You must be a minister’s or MLA’s friend or relative, or you must have money to pay a bribe. Every youth in Uttarakhand will have an equal opportunity to work for the government and will be hired without bribes or recommendations. Within the private sector, jobs can be created on a massive scale. We will provide jobs in Uttarakhand in the same way that we provided jobs to one million people in Delhi. Unemployment allowance of 5000 rupees will be paid to everyone until a suitable job is found for them.”
He added, “Fourth, every woman above the age of 18 years will be given one thousand rupees per month. Fifth is schools. Today, the whole world believes that the Delhi Government is an educational leader. Our government schools are brilliant. In Delhi, children from poor and wealthy families now receive equal education. Officers’, judges’, and rickshaw-pullers’ children all sit and study at the same desk. Today, the state of government schools in Uttarakhand is deplorable. Government schools in shambles. Children from low-income families are not receiving a good education. The poor’s children are left impoverished. If our government comes, government schools will thrive in Uttarakhand as well. We can do it. We have good intentions. BJP-Congress’ intentions are not in the favour of the common man. Government schools in Uttarakhand, like those in Delhi, will thrive, and world-class education will be available to all. Everyone has the right to a good education system, and the AAP will make sure that they get what they deserve.”
Shri Arvind Kejriwal said, “The sixth item on the agenda is government hospitals. Mohalla Clinics have been established in every nook and corner of Delhi. Even after so many years, there is no healthcare service in any remote village in Uttarakhand. Here people have to walk long distances to reach the hospital. This system will be phased out. There is only one Mohalla Clinic model that can be implemented from village to village. All patients will receive free treatment as a result of this initiative. In Delhi, we have constructed excellent government hospitals. People no longer go to Apollo and Max; instead, they go to our government hospitals. If even one of Delhi’s two crore residents becomes ill, develops a fever, and requires crocin, it is provided free of charge. If you want to get cancer treatment or a transplant, you can do so for free as well. We have ensured free and good treatment for every person in Delhi, and we will also ensure free and good treatment for every resident of Uttarakhand. Seventh, AAP will fix the road infrastructure. Roads all over the state are in a dilapidated condition. There’s incessant corruption in this system. You’d see a road getting destroyed within 10 days of being built here. Who are the contractors conniving with? Which minister is benefitting from this suffering? We’ll not only put an end to this broken system of broken roads but also replace it with a world-class road network.”
He added, “AAP had earlier announced its guarantee of providing free Teerth Yatra to every citizen of Uttarakhand. Everyone will get to have darshan of Ayodhya Ji, Ajmer Sharif, Kartarput Sahib and the like as per their reverence. We run the Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Yojna in Delhi. So far, approximately 40 thousand people have gone on pilgrimages to various locations under this scheme. They are ecstatic when they return from their pilgrimage. We intend to establish Uttarakhand as the international spiritual capital for Hindus. This will significantly increase tourism in the area, and we hope that it will provide employment for thousands of children. Ninth, our soldiers retire from the army at the age of 34. Following that, they look for work in security agencies, and live with difficulty. They have a lot of experience in the medical sector, engineering, and similar fields after serving in the army for 17 years. They are extremely loyal to the country. We have decided that all retirees who come back will be given government jobs. They are not being helped by the government here. We believe that this is a huge asset of the government that is being wasted. If a soldier from Delhi is killed on the border or a Delhi Police officer is killed in an operation, he receives a one-crore-rupee Samman Rashi. If any soldier or police officer from Uttarakhand is killed in any operation, we will pay them an honorarium of one crore rupees just like we do in Delhi and a token of our respect for their sacrifice.”
CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal concluded, “AAP will make education free in Uttarakhand. If a man today has three children, and if he sends them to private schools, he spends three thousand rupees per month on one child. He will now save approximately 10,000 rupees per month in this manner. This year, 2.5 lakh children in Delhi have enrolled in government schools from private schools. We will provide free electricity and free healthcare to all. If we combine all of these benefits, each family will receive a benefit of at least two lakh rupees per year. As a result, every family will receive a direct benefit of Rs 10 lakh after five years. We did all of this in Delhi, and we are the only ones who can do it in this country. Nobody else has done it. Anyone who believes Kejriwal is lying or that the Aam Aadmi Party is making big promises should contact their friends in Delhi. Make a phone call to Delhi and ask your friends and family if you are pleased with the Kejriwal administration or not. If they say they’re not happy, don’t vote for me in Uttarakhand. No political party has the audacity to say this. What I’m curious about is what these two parties did. What did these two parties accomplish in 21 years if we could accomplish so much in Delhi in the last seven years? They only did one thing: they filled their vaults. Until now, these two parties have worked like a coalition. Both parties slander the other. Both have accused each other, so why not take action and lock them up when you can? The BJP has been in power for five years, but not a single Congress leader has been prosecuted. Because they know that the next time Congress comes to our aid, we will be saved. All they did was protect each other. Uttarakhand is currently in debt to the tune of approximately 60 thousand crores. What led to this debt? Where did this 60 thousand crore rupees go? This should be addressed by both parties. Not a single school, college, university, hospital, dispensary, or clinic has been built in the last 21 years. This money was transferred to their Swiss banks, where it was used to purchase properties all over the world. These leaders have amassed so much wealth that even they are unaware of their net worth. All of Uttarakhand’s money has been looted by these leaders. The people of Uttarakhand now have a choice in the form of AAP. The people of Uttarakhand have only one need: an honest option, which the Aam Aadmi Party will provide.”
