Aam Aadmi Party shares video as proof of BJP-ruled MCD’s misgovernance – shows a dilapidated ‘multi speciality’ hospital, which has been the breeding ground for a major corruption racket. In view of this, AAP Senior Leader and MCD In-charge Shri Durgesh Pathak stated – BJP-led MCD squandered crores in building of hospital; was allocated Rs. 9 crores, but eventually cost 60-70 crores. Water has flooded the entire basement of this hospital, there are cracks in the walls, cement is falling out, and it seems that the building may collapse at any time. Despite the fact that the building was new, it was in a dilapidated state when it opened in 2021. AAP Senior Leader and MCD In-charge Shri Durgesh Pathak said, “Today we are sharing a video of a hospital run by the Bharatiya Janata Party’s MCD. You can also verify this by visiting the site yourself. This video shows the reality of how the hospitals in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s MCD are managed and operated. We had informed the public a few days ago about a hospital in North MCD where accidents are known to happen at any time, but that there were still patients in that hospital. First and foremost, we have Poornima Sethi Hospital, which is located near Kalkaji, the condition of which you can see through the video proof shared by us. Poornima Sethi ‘Multi Speciality’ Hospital, which is located in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s MCD, was established in 2007. The cost of building this hospital was 9 crores at the time and it was supposed to be finished in 2012. However, this hospital was finished only in 2021. The hospital, which was approved in 2007 and was supposed to be finished in 2012, was completed in 2021. The hospital, which was supposed to cost 9 crore rupees, cost around 60-70 crores. Second, MCD’s auditor inquired about a payment of Rs 4 crore that was made as part of a larger payment. The BJP-ruled MCD, on the other hand, declined to provide any information in this regard. They have no idea to whom they gave the 4 crore rupees. Water has flooded the entire basement of this hospital. For 12 months, the entire basement is submerged in water for 24 hours. We also showed you how the walls looked. They don’t even have a no-objection certificate for fire. In the name of medication, only paracetamol is offered; nothing else is available. These are the conditions at the MCD hospitals in Delhi, which are ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party.”
He added, “There’s a very straight forward message that this sends about the way the BJP-ruled MCD carries out its misgovernance. If you look at the Kejriwal Government, you will see that a flyover costing 300 crores is built in just 150 crores – because our government is honest, our ministers and our CM are all staunchly honest persons. This is how we save money on our projects, instead of squandering it like the BJP. A prime example of BJP-led MCD’s corruption is being presented right before your eyes today – that a hospital costing 9 crores had 60-70 crores spent on it, clearly indicating a major scam behind this. A proper corruption racket has been conspired amongst the BJP leaders and money has been distributed. They have squandered crores and crores of money, taking BJP’s flagrant corruption to a new level. Any layman who is informed that an exorbitant amount of money was spent on a hospital which is in such poor condition today, will be able to smell the corruption. A dilapidated ‘multi speciality’ hospital with neither its OPD functioning, nor any medical facilities available – this place can essentially be declared as dangerous for patients. Today, we have merely shown you a portion of the hospital with its wallpaper falling off, structural issues, which are present throughout its premises.”
He continued, “So, a hospital that was built in 2021 already has reached a condition in 2022 where it appears on the verge of collapsing any moment. The video proof has shown how the plaster is falling off the walls, cement is rotting away, and overall the entire hospital seems to be built of sand, and all the money which was allocated to it has fallen prey to blatant corruption at the hands of the BJP and its leaders. A stringent investigation must take place in this matter, and all corrupt leaders involved should have strict action taken against them. This hospital falls under the constituency of South Delhi, the MP for which is Shri Ramesh Bidhuri and the hospital is located a mere 2 kms away from his residence. I challenge Shri Ramesh Bidhuri further in the fight he picked himself, that why don’t we begin the comparison visits with this hospital itself? Whenever you have the time, you let us know, and the Aam Aadmi Party workers along with the media will join you and your team for this visit. We should first inspect the hospital which the MCD claims to be one of its best, and a ‘multi speciality’ one, then why shouldn’t we begin the democratic act of comparison with this hospital? We have already exposed how the building cost mounted to 60-70 crores from the initial 9 crores, indicating massive corruption. We have also shared the dilapidated condition of this hospital with the public. The Aam Aadmi Party demands an answer on this matter from Shri Ramesh Bidhuri and Shri Adesh Gupta in the next few days.”
Leader of Opposition for South MCD Shri Prem Chauhan added, “The situation is significantly worse than the video we have shared. We haven’t been able to show much as this was filmed on my personal phone. We attempted to access the first and second floors but were unable to do so. Once they learned that we were filming the state of the building, we were not let onto the other floors because the situation there was far worse. I would urge you all to go to that hospital and observe for yourselves the condition there, so that the heinous state of the hospital can be brought to light and the danger to the lives of the patients and people of Delhi who are coming there can be averted. This hospital should be closed or repaired right away. There is currently an MP wandering around with medicines in our Mohalla Clinics. Do they not notice the state of the hospital that their MCD built – where water has submerged entire floors, and is the world’s first hospital which is giving only paracetamol in the name of being a multi-specialty hospital. Instead of rushing here and there, they should look into their hospital, their conscience and assess the amount of corruption they have perpetrated.”
He further said, “I’d like to inform all of you media brethren that everytime a structure is constructed, a soil test report is issued. The Bharatiya Janata Party needs to tell us about the abyss into which the soil test report for this structure disappeared. What happened to that report? Why did they allow the construction of the structure despite the presence of subsoil water at this location. They built a building here to dispose of their money and to carry out corruption. Every time these people claim that by appropriating the name of this institution, they have done some tremendous work, they are lying. However, the same hospital has come to a screeching halt; tend to it first, as other individuals have refused to accept this hospital. The BJP-ruled MCD attempted to give it to a private lab at one point. The lab, however, witnessed the building’s state and refused to take it. These individuals attempted to donate it to a large hospital once more, but they also distanced themselves. There has been a great deal of corruption here, which should be probed and those responsible punished.”
