AAP stands in support of MCD’s teachers; BJP must issue their salaries at the earliest: Durgesh Pathak
NEW DELHI:
The BJP-ruled East MCD has failed its employees yet again – this time leaving its school teachers with no option but to strike. Senior AAP leader and MCD in-charge Shri Durgesh Pathak stated – The teachers of East MCD have not received their salaries for the last 4 months, due to which the teachers are sitting on an indefinite dharna at the East MCD headquarters. It has become difficult for teachers to go home. Despite repeated pleas, BJP-ruled MCD did not meet the demands of the teachers, compelling them to resort to a strike. AAP stands in support of MCD’s teachers. The BJP-ruled East MCD must issue their salaries at the earliest.
Shri Durgesh Pathak issued a statement on Monday. He said, “We have discovered that teachers in East MCD’s schools have not been paid for the last four months. Salaries of lakhs of teachers are pending, newly selected teachers are not being appointed, and there are numerous other important demands that the BJP-ruled MCD is not meeting. They have repeatedly pleaded to the MCD officers for a raise – that it was becoming difficult for them to walk out of their homes, but they were not given the money they deserved. They finally decided to sit on an indefinite strike, admitting defeat, after the BJP-ruled MCD failed to meet any of their demands.”
He continued, “Teachers have been holding a dharna at the East Delhi Municipal Corporation headquarters since 11 AM today. Teachers from North MCD schools have joined the East MCD teachers in their cause. They say the strike will go on until their demands are met and their salaries are released. I’m not sure how many months all of the teachers and other employees of the BJP-ruled MCD would have spent worrying sick about how their families would survive without pay. The teachers themselves have told us about their ordeal. Anyone’s heart would tremble upon hearing their anguish, but the BJP officials sitting in the corporation have simply turned a blind eye to the teachers’ grievances.”
He added, “Not paying employees’ salaries has become a habit for BJP officials in the MCD. Every day, we receive complaints that the BJP-ruled MCD does not pay salaries of doctors, sanitation workers, DBC employees, or teachers on time. These employees have not been paid for several months now. Even after promising to regularise their positions for many years, the BJP-ruled MCD has repeatedly gone back on its own word as if it never made any declarations. The MCD employees do not have secure jobs, and the shameless BJP leaders in the MCD are failing to pay salaries due for months, causing them great deal of trouble to even walk out of their homes.”
Standing in support of the teachers, Shri Pathak said, “Today, MCD employees under the BJP rule are facing a slew of issues. However, when the Aam Aadmi Party government takes over the corporation in the next few months, the situation will be reversed. The Aam Aadmi Party will ensure that all employees receive their salaries on time, that they are regularised, and that they have access to all necessary facilities. It will only take one month for all of your problems to be resolved. The Aam Aadmi Party will not allow any wrongs to occur against the people of Delhi or any of their employees. AAP stands in staunch support of the MCD teachers. The BJP-controlled MCD that all teachers’ salaries should be paid as soon as possible.”
