Director of Education Himanshu Gupta and DM South District Sonalika Jiwani gave UPSC preparation tips to government school students

In the Motivational Speaker Series, a unique initiative launched by the Delhi Government, young IAS / I.P.S officers share their experiences related to studies and preparation for competitive exams like UPSC, with the children of Delhi government schools through direct communication. This creates understanding among the students about these exams and helps them in making their study plans. In the fifth session of this series, on Tuesday, 2017 batch IAS officer and South Delhi District Magistrate Sonalika Jiwani shared her preparation experiences with the students. In this program organized at Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya Kalkaji, in addition to the direct interaction with about 75 children of different schools, about 13,000 children participated in this program through YouTube Live.
While interacting with the students, Sonalika Jiwani said that if you dream of being something in future, stay determined to achieve that goal. She said that she had got a good job soon after completing her engineering but she had a strong feeling to do something for the people so she started preparing for civil services. She told the children that along with studies, it is very important to have different interests in life as it teaches us self-control, respect for others, teamwork and gives exposure.
Giving information about the preparation of UPSC exam to the children, Sonalika Jiwani said that during the preparation always do smart study and stay focused. Use a mobile phones very smartly so that it becomes your companion in preparation and not a hindrance. She said that it is not necessary that preparation for civil services can be done only by taking coaching. Children can prepare for this by themselves and get success.
Sonalika Jiwani while addressing the students said that never limit your life, always dream big and never give up. He said that do not be afraid of the difficulties that come in life, keep moving forward and consider it as an opportunity to learn. Always have confidence in yourself. And whether you are studying or doing any job, always give your best performance in it.
Adding to her words, Director-Education Himanshu Gupta said that during preparation, keep yourself away from negative thoughts, do self-analysis when such thoughts come and then start preparing again. He said that always choose the area which you like, and the whole journey will be easy then.
The Director-Education said that the effort of the Delhi Government through this program is to instill confidence in the children by dispelling the misconceptions regarding UPSC preparation. He shared that the Delhi government has planned more such programs in future. This will guide the children of Delhi towards fulfilling their dreams.
