NEW DELHI

The North Delhi Municipal Corporation held its final meeting today for the session 2017-2022. However, an uproar erupted as a result of the BJP leaders’ tyranny. The Aam Aadmi Party had tabled a short-term question in the House to debate the issues of regularising Safai Karamcharis, DBC employees, and other employees, as well as timely payment of their salary. However, the BJP mayor, as is now usual, declined to consider the opposition’s concerns, but agreed to answer the BJP’s short-term question about the Delhi government’s excise policy and liquor contracts. As a result, the BJP was seen avoiding critical matters relating to the corporation once again. In the meeting, the Aam Aadmi Party also proposed withdrawing the road naming nomination made in Manoj Tiwari’s late father Chandra Dev Tiwari’s name.

AAP’s Vikas Goel, the Leader of the Opposition in the North Delhi Municipal Corporation, stated, “Today was the House’s final meeting. This meeting, however, was originally scheduled for March 10, 2022. But, understanding the prospect of enforcing a code of conduct, BJP leaders held the meeting a day earlier, at 9:00 a.m. today. The BJP leaders’ goal in convening the conference a day earlier was to get the resolutions passed amid the commotion. This could not have been passed after the code of conduct was implemented.”

He added, “We had also moved a censure motion in the meeting of the House. This was in response to former BJP state president and North-East Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari’s nomination of a road in Burari ward in his late father Chandra Dev Tiwari’s name. Manoj Tiwari or his late father did not contribute to the social activities and development of Burari Ward. Even Manoj Tiwari did not get a single piece of work done in Burari assembly with his MP fund. We demand that the road nomination filed in the name of Late Chandra Dev Tiwari be withdrawn.”

The Leader of Opposition further said, “the BJP’s five-year tenure has been spent by pauperizing the corporation, turning Delhi into a garbage dump, selling the corporation’s lands to fill its pockets, making the employees crave salaries, and failing to do the development work of Delhi. The people of Delhi are now fed up with the 15 years of BJP’s misrule and have made up their minds to bring the Aam Aadmi Party government in all three corporations.”
