NEW DELHI:
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Manish Sisodia roared in anger against the BJP as he lashed out at its leaders for their utter disregard of the national flag. During a session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly held today, Shri Sisodia asserted that the BJP is opposing the installation of Tiranga in Delhi and dared them to stop the AAP Government if they could. He stated that every single AAP worker and leader will lay their lives but won’t let the BJP disrespect the national flag. Shri Sisodia further stated — Did Bhagat Singh-Sukhdev-Rajguru sacrifice their lives for us to see this day where BJP conveniently goes around disregarding the Tiranga? There can’t be a bigger anti-national than that BJP Councillor who opposes the installation of the Tiranga. Our martyrs laid their lives down for this Tiranga; every thread of the flag stands for every drop of blood our soldiers shed to keep it flying high. There is no difference between traitors and BJP leaders who feel ashamed to see the Tiranga be hoisted in the national capital. This came in reply to an issue raised by AAP MLA Shri Somnath Bharti wherein BJP Councillors were opposing installation of the tricolour in his constituency.
Deputy CM Shri Manish Sisodia held no bars as he attacked the BJP and said, “The Delhi Government decided to celebrate the 75th year of Indian Independence by installing 500 massive Tirangas all over the state. Our motive behind the project was to instil a feeling of Deshbhakti in each and every citizen the moment they step out of their house. If any BJP Councillor has the audacity to say that the tricolour can not be installed at a site because a certain group hoists their own flag there then there can be no bigger treason than that. There can be no bigger anti-national than them. There just can’t be a bigger traitor than one who has no regard for the national flag.”
He added, “I want to make it very clear. You may have whatever bigoted vested interests you have. Our martyrs have laid their life for this flag to fly high in a state of freedom. Every thread of this Tiranga stands for every drop of blood our soldiers have sacrificed for this nation. We celebrated the Shaheed Diwas yesterday commemorating Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Rajguru and Shaheed Sukhdev, who were hanged to death for their want of a day where this Tiranga can be hoisted. And today, the BJP, in its true nature, has a problem with the Tiranga being installed in the national capital itself?”
He continued, “We are seeing a day where the BJP is ashamed of its own country’s national flag. They don’t even have it in themselves to come forward and say that we will not let anyone hinder the installation of the Tiranga. There simply can not be a bigger blot on our democracy than the BJP today. A BJP Councillor has dared to say that he won’t let the Tiranga be installed in a park in Delhi and the leaders of his party, leave alone action, have not even condemned his act? Every single leader of the BJP should hang their heads in shame. They should apologise to every Indian in remorse.”
The house erupted with slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai and Vande Matram as Dy CM challenged the BJP and said, “Today, I speak with complete responsibility and sense. Every single worker, every single leader of the Aam Aadmi Party will fight, they will put their lives on the line but will not let the Tiranga be disrespected. We will lay our lives for this Tiranga to fly high. Try stopping us if you dare to. Try fighting us if you have the courage to. Tiranga Wahin Lagega. No compromises with the national flag can be tolerated.”
MLA Shri Somnath Bharti said, “We have all heard from many sources that the people belonging to the BJP hold no attachment to our beloved Tiranga in any form or manner. Their leaders made absolutely no contributions in our fight to attain freedom, in liberating the Tiranga whatsoever. However, an incident from my constituency has been brought to my notice recently, which has left me stunned and disconcerted. After the monumental decision of CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal to hoist the Tiranga throughout Delhi and its implementation, an unprecedented sense of patriotism enveloped the National Capital. In this regard, we had taken permission from the South MCD in order to install one of the Tirangas in the Maharaja Sursaini Park in my constituency. As soon as we arrived at the site, some people arrived and objected to us installing the national flag. When I asked the reason behind their objection, they stated that they use the park to set up their Shakhas, and hence only their flag can be hoisted at the park.”
He added, “I was appalled. I said that even if they set up their Shakha, the Tiranga belongs to them as well. I further tried to convince them, to appeal to their patriotic values, stating how many great martyrs laid their lives down to set our Tiranga free. After this, we received a call from BJP councillor Anil Saini in which he stated that the Tiranga installation process must be halted immediately. I believe this was a highly disappointing statement made by the councillor, and suggested setting up the Shakha under the Tiranga itself – why should that be a problem? But they were adamant, claiming that their flag is distinct. Hence, I saw with my own eyes what we had only heard so far – that BJP’s councillor from that ward disrespected our National Flag, our Tiranga, and proclaimed that he would not let us install the Tiranga in Maharaja Sursaini Park at any cost. I thereby raise this matter, and declare to the BJP and the Sangh that the Aam Aadmi Party will not tolerate any form of disrespect against the Tiranga.”
