NEW DELHI:

Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal launched a blistering attack against the BJP in the Delhi Legislative Assembly today. He even took on the Prime Minister for using his position to promote a film and said that if the Prime Minister has to function at the mercy of someone like Vivek Agnihotri, it means that he has not taken a single good step in eight long years. He further cornered the BJP and its leaders for playing cheap politics and raising frivolous matters to misguide the public and stated — If BJP is so keen on making ‘The Kashmir Files’ tax-free, why doesn’t it ask Vivek Agnihotri to upload the movie on YouTube and make it free? The man is minting crores in the name of the agony of Kashmiri Pandits and has reduced the BJP to the job of putting up posters of his film. Hitler too had bootlickers but he at least gave them employment; did Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi even care for giving your kids medicines when they were in need? Opposition can’t digest the fact that AAP’s governments in Delhi and Punjab are honouring Babasaheb Ambedkar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh. BJP asks why didn’t you put up Savarkar and Hedgewar’s portraits while Congress asks for those of Indira and Rajiv Gandhi; is this a joke? BJP-Congress can put up whoever’s portraits they want; we want to honour Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Babasaheb Ambedkar and no one can stop us. BJP despises Babasaheb because he gave this country the right to elect its leaders. Babasaheb’s constitution says that India is a democracy where people choose their own leaders in elections but BJP wants to change this precedent. BJP has committed so much corruption in 15 years that the Guinness Book of World Records might just recognise them as the most corrupt too. Delhiites have been haunted by BJP’s barbaric 15-year long rule of the MCD; they’re fully prepared to seek revenge and vote them out. The BJP only wants to defer elections in fear of AAP; there’s nothing unification has to do with it. Tomorrow there might be no Modi Ji and Kejriwal; this country is here to stay and its people matter more than we do. Babasaheb and Bhagat Singh two shining stars of our history; can’t compromise in honouring them: CM Arvind Kejriwal

Addressing the Delhi Vidhan Sabha, Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal said, “We paid tribute to Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru on Shaheed Diwas. They made the supreme sacrifice in order to make sure our nation became free. We equally and wholeheartedly respect all our freedom fighters and martyrs, and this is a known fact. Out of all our great heroes, however, the two shining stars who are distinct because of their ideals and their inspirational journeys are Babasaheb Ambedkar and Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh. The Delhi Government has taken a decision to display portraits of these two great heroes of our freedom struggle in all our offices. The AAP Government in Punjab has also followed suit and taken a similar decision. Ever since the announcement regarding this new resolution has been made, I had expected that the opposition would stand in support of our initiative and congratulate and praise our attempts to honour the legacies of Babasaheb and Bhagat Singh. However, the reality has been nothing but staunch criticism from the BJP with accusations questioning why are we only including portraits of Babasaheb Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh, and why not Veer Savarkar, or Hedgewar? My counter question to them is why don’t the BJP leaders themselves display portraits of their suggested leaders in their own offices? The Congress leaders on the other hand are hurling accusations questioning why we are not putting up displays of Indira Gandhi or Rajiv Gandhi in our offices. To them as well I say that they can display portraits of the Gandhis, while we are happy with Babasaheb and Bhagat Singh.”

BJP is anti-democracy; don’t want elections to take place: CM Arvind Kejriwal

“I have been trying to understand why the leaders of opposition parties harbour such immense hatred for great personalities like Babasaheb Ambedkar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Their disdain is clear from their actions, given how they have created a ruckus and staged a walk out abruptly after hearing Babasaheb’s name. The opposition is not in favour of the father of our constitution because when Babasaheb Ambedkar wrote our country’s constitution, he stated that India will be a democracy, in which free and fair elections will take place, through which the people will vote and choose their government, and this elected government will work towards fulfilling the dreams of its people. The BJP is against this democratic mechanism, and wants the election procedure to be eradicated. They consider elections as something completely adverse. For 15 years, they incessantly looted the state of Delhi by holding power in the MCD. They have broken all records when it comes to plundering that the Guinness Book of World Records is going to publish their name for their spectacular performance in corruption and misgovernance. They left no stone unturned in ransacking the national capital. After all their exploits were exposed to the public, it caused a state of unrest and the people of Delhi made up their minds to throw them out of the MCD after being fed up with their 15 years of uninterrupted misgovernance – that it would let its anger and frustration at the BJP out by voting them out of power in the 2022 elections,” he further said.

No democracy in the world must have experienced a sitting PM writes to the asks to defer elections: CM Arvind Kejriwal

The CM added, “The Election Commission of India had declared the date and time of announcement for the dates of the 2022 MCD elections – on 4th March, at 5 PM. On the same day, merely an hour before the announcement, there arrives a letter for the Election Commissioner from the Prime Minister’s Office with an order to defer the elections. No democracy in the world must have experienced an incident where a sitting PM writes to the Election Commissioner to defer constitutional elections. This is the reason the BJP harbours disdain for Babasaheb Ambedkar, for had it not been for Babasaheb, India would not have been a democracy and they would be free to practise misgovernance.”

BJP leaders want to do away with elections of MCD forever: CM Arvind Kejriwal

“Yesterday I met a senior BJP leader, who admitted saying – ‘I have informed my seniors in the party that they should not get involved in the election matters, and apply the same rules to MCD as they have in NDMC.’ When I asked what he meant, he plainly stated that NDMC has no elections, and has direct nominations from the central government. Similar process must be applied to the MCDs in this BJP leader’s opinion. This clearly tells us that if the BJP was given free reign, it would eradicate the process of elections throughout the country and snatch our democratic values away from us. This is why they cannot stomach our celebration of Babasaheb’s life and teachings, because Babasaheb introduced the idea of free and fair election and wrote it down in our constitution. And they simply do not want any such processes to take place,” he continued.

No leader or party bigger than the country; we must not let our nation, our democracy down: CM Arvind Kejriwal

Shri Kejriwal stated, “They are suddenly raising a proposal to unify the three MCDs. Where was this idea for the past 7 years? Why did they not propose this earlier? Merely one hour before the election announcement they have woken up, and issued a letter asking to defer elections with the excuse of unification. Because their goal isn’t unification, but to avoid elections, and hence avoid defeat. Triumphs and defeats are all a part of politics – the BJP loses or wins sometimes, so does AAP, and so does the Congress party. But our country and our democracy is above all, and it is my humble request to you to think of the nation as a whole, to think of its progress and development. Today, the Aam Aadmi Party is in power in Delhi’s state government, next term it might not be. Today the BJP is in power in some state or the centre, who knows what tomorrow holds? Be it Modi or Kejriwal, they are here today, might not be there tomorrow. No leader or party is bigger than the country, our society. We must not let our nation, our democracy down, or let our nation get fragmented due to power struggles at any cost. These people are meddling with the nation’s progress, with our constitution. They simply wrote a letter using the unification of MCDs as an excuse to defer the elections, and the Election Commission, a constitutional body, also easily gave in and deferred the elections.”

BJP is full of chickenhearted cowards who run away from elections: CM Arvind Kejriwal

“The Gujarat elections are up next in December. People are saying they’ll lose them too. Will they now write to the Central Election Commission asking them to defer Gujarat elections arguing that they want to merge the state with Maharashtra? When the BJP realises they will lose the Lok Sabha elections, will they tell the EC that they want to establish a presidential system so elections can’t take place? Is the Election Commission so fickle that elections can be cancelled like this? Is this some kind of drama going on that they’re doing as their will pleases them too? They’ve made a laughing stock out of this country and its democracy. They claim to be the biggest political party in the world. We think we might be the smallest of the political parties. Yet, the BJP, with all its might, got scared of us and ran away! They’re all chickenhearted cowards. I challenge them to come fight against us if they have the courage to. They make claims of their leader boasting a 56-inch chest, if that is true, come fight the elections. If they don’t, everyone will understand they’re only making false claims,” he added.

BJP has reduced its leaders to the job of putting up a movie’s posters on the streets: CM Arvind Kejriwal

The CM continued, “It was appalling to see the BJP interrupt the Lieutenant Governor’s address yesterday. They were acting like hooligans without a brain. Half of them shouting to make ‘The Kashmir Files’ movie tax-free and the other shouting some nonsense about the liquor policy. They didn’t even know what their issue was. All they knew was that the high-command had ordered them to cause a stir. This is the state to which BJP has reduced their senior leaders to. It reminded me of a scene from the movie ‘Bunty Aur Babli’ where a headless crowd gathers to shout slogans at a politician’s office and then when they’re asked to tell their demands they have no answer at all. I want to ask the BJP leaders today — Don’t you feel ashamed? Every single one of you has been reduced to the job of putting up posters of some movie so it gets publicity. Don’t you feel bad when your children ask you what you do at your office and you have to say that you put up posters of a movie because your master wants you to?”

Imagine having to fall down to the feet of Vivek Agnihotri of all people to ask him to protect your image? Is this what a PM does?: CM Arvind Kejriwal

“If the Prime Minister of this country has to seek refuge in the mercy of someone like Vivek Agnihotri, it means that the PM has not done anything worth his seat in eight years. Imagine having to fall down to the feet of Vivek Agnihotri of all people to ask him to protect your image? Is this what the Prime Minister of the world’s largest democracy does? They want us to make ‘The Kashmir Files’ tax-free. If they’re so concerned, why don’t they just upload it on YouTube and let everyone watch it for free? If the BJP is so keen to watch the movie they should just ask Vivek Agnihotri to let them watch for free, what is the point of making it tax-free? It was in the papers yesterday that a BJP MLA attempted to screen the movie for free in Haryana so the local residents could watch it. The moment Vivek Agnihotri saw that happen, he wrote to the Haryana CM, pleading to not let people watch it for free. If they still do not understand, let me explain it to the BJP leaders — some people are minting crores of rupees in the name of the agony faced by Kashmiri Pandits and you all so called senior leaders are going around pasting posters of their movie on the street? Introspect. Think. This is what value you hold among the public. Even shamelessness has its limits. When the 3 vile farm laws were introduced, all of you BJP people squealed with glee and called it a masterstroke. But when these laws were withdrawn, then too you called them a masterstroke? I can’t help but pity you all. After you were done with this, your master asked you to make a ruckus about the liquor policy. You howled as much as you could, we didn’t do much about it. You’ve moved on to this movie’s cause now. Tell me, did your problem with the liquor policy get resolved or you only care about making echo-chambers?,” he said.

Doesn’t look good when BJP leaders waste their position for promoting movies: CM Arvind Kejriwal

Shri Kejriwal added, “I just have one appeal to all the BJP MLAs — the Vidhan Sabha is like a family. You must think of the nation and reflect on your conduct. The BJP is really making a fool out of its people. Even a person like Hitler ensured that his people got jobs and a sense of security. What did the BJP give its MLAs? Nothing. It wasn’t them who arranged for free electricity. Kejriwal and his government did so. It was our government who made sure that even the BJP workers get all medical help when needed. I want to appeal to all BJP supporters to open the locks on their thinking and get rid of their mob-mentality. If you want, come and join the AAP. You will be given utmost respect, freedom and no one will make you put some movie’s posters on the streets. You will get to contribute to nation-building. I have an earnest request to all BJP MLAs as a fellow member of this house. Do whatever you want to do, but for the sake of god, stop wasting your time and position to promote this movie. It doesn’t look good on the position you command. Don’t act like children on the internet, please.”

LG is a representative of the BJP’s Central Government but he too was compelled to praise our efforts in governance: CM Arvind Kejriwal

“The whole country watched as the Lieutenant Governor delivered his address yesterday. The LG is considered to be a nominee or a representative of the BJP’s Central Government. Even he could not stop himself from heaping praises of the Delhi Government. In just 5 years, our state’s GDP rose by a staggering 50%. No other state could match this number. I want to thank the LG for praising the Delhi Government in such bold words despite his loyalties,” the CM concluded.

Some BJP MLAs walked out of the house as soon as Babasaheb’s name was mentioned

When CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal mentioned the name of Babasaheb Ambedkar, BJP MLAs started creating ruckus and started going out of the assembly. The CM said that these people do not even want to hear the name of Babasaheb. He appealed to the BJP MLAs to sit in the house not disrespect Dr Ambedkar but the BJP MLAs started creating ruckus in the house. Speaker Shri Ram Niwas Goel expressed his displeasure over this and instructed the BJP MLAs to not create nuisance.
