Slamming the BJP led central government on Friday for introducing Delhi Municipal Corporation Amendment Bill in Parliament, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Manish Sisodia said that since independence, this is for the first time in the history of India, that any central government is scared of a state government. This is not the MCD reform bill, this is the “Stop MCD Elections” Bill according to me.
Shri Sisodia said that the BJP, which boasts of being the world’s largest political party and has governments in so many states, is scared of losing elections to a small party and is trying to run away from the elections. Whether central government decides to do the unification of MCD or trifurcation, nothing will change until BJP is in power at MCD. 10 years ago when MCD was one, then also there was corruption and unhygienic sanitation conditions across Delhi and when it was trifurcated, then also situation remained the same. MCD will change only when the BJP will be wiped out from there. This time Delhi residents have made up their mind that they will bring Kejriwal in MCD too. Every resident across Delhi is openly saying “MCD mein bhi Kejriwal” and this bill has been brought in by PM Narendra Modi to suppress the voice of masses.
Taking aim at PM Shri Narendra Modi, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Manish Sisodia said that the PM of the country should be thinking about the position of India amidst the war crisis in Ukraine and Russia and all that he is concerned about is MCD elections. The BJP government sitting at the center and the Prime Minister is afraid of the voice of the people of Delhi. For the first time in the history of the country, the level of the Prime Minister has fallen so much that he is taking interest in municipal elections. The Prime Minister is so scared of Arvind Kejriwal that he has reached the level of running the MCD instead of running the country.
He said that the Prime Minister is scared of the fact that if Kejriwal’s government comes to MCD also, then MCD will be transformed and it will start running smoothly like the departments of Delhi government. BJP people used to say that government schools can never be fine because they do not have funds, so educate your children in private schools. But in the last 7 years, the whole country has seen that if there is honest leadership, then government schools can not only become world- class but can also be better than private ones. BJP people used to say that electricity cannot be cheap, but the electricity bills of people are coming to zero or half across Delhi. Today Delhi does not have its own electricity, yet the whole of Delhi gets electricity 24 hours a day and 92% of the people are getting this benefit. BJP is not concerned about making reforms in Delhi, the party is scared of the fact that Arvind Kejriwal completes all promises that he makes with the residents of Delhi. He said that the people of Delhi have decided that only Kejriwal will come to MCD, whether elections are held now or after 6 months or after a year.
Shri Sisodia said that the bill which has been introduced today in Parliament is unfortunate for the entire country and democracy. He said that in the constitution written by Babasaheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar, elections have been called the soul of democracy and postponement of elections is killing the soul of the constitution. Today BJP is killing the Constitution under the guise of this bill. Also, this bill is unfortunate for the country because today the level of the Prime Minister of the country has stooped so low that instead of running the country, he is taking interest in the MCD elections. Giving advice to the central government, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the central government should make the laws because it has powers to do so, but elections should be held on time. It should protect the democracy of the country and should not disrespect the post of PM.
