Kejriwal Government dedicates a state-of-the-art 100 bedded COVID Care Facility at Tibbia College and Hospital to the people of Delhi

Delhi Government is fully geared up for any future surge in Covid 19 cases: Satyendar Jain

The Integrated Care Centre has 18 ICU beds and 82 Oxygen beds with a PSA plant of 250 LPM and was inaugurated by Health Minister Satyendar Jain today

In a bid to increase the capacity of healthcare infrastructure in Delhi, the Kejriwal Government has set up a fully equipped 100 bedded portable integrated care center at Ayurvedic and Unani Tibbia College and Hospital, Karol Bagh. The care center was inaugurated by Health Minister Shri Satyendar Jain on the occasion of the college’s centenary celebrations. On this occasion, Shri Satyendar Jain told the media that this Hospital will be beneficial for the people living in nearby areas. He also said that this hospital is an example of the determination and commitment of the Government of Delhi to fight a pandemic like COVID-19. Health Minister Shri Satyendar Jain also thanked the American India Foundation and all those who donated to the construction of this hospital in the service of mankind.

The 100 bedded care center inaugurated by the health minister includes 18 ICU beds along with 82 Oxygen beds. This facility also has its own oxygen PSA plant of 250 litres per minute (LPM), the aim of the government is to increase the capacity of health infrastructure in hospitals in Delhi keeping in mind the situation that had surfaced in the past due to the surge in Covid cases in Delhi.

Shri Satyendar Jain said, “This hospital has been set up in view of preparations to deal with pandemics like Covid-19 in future. This 100 bedded center was initially built to serve as beds for covid 19 patients but considering the fact that the number of covid cases in the capital is low and under control at the moment, the Delhi Government still wants to be fully prepared for any possible surge in cases in the future and make arrangements for it beforehand. We have decided to maintain this healthcare center instead of dismantling it and that the Unani Tibbia College shall maintain its administration so it may be used during any future crisis that may arise. All the beds have been equipped with oxygen cylinders, moreover, ventilators have been provided for all the ICU beds.”

At the same, the Health Minister tweeted, “Inaugurated 100 Bedded Portable Integrated Care Centre in Ayurvedic & Unani Tibbia College. It is a fully equipped facility that has 18 ICU and 82 Oxygen beds with an oxygen PSA plant of 250 LPM. This facility will aid in increasing the bed capacity in case of any crisis.”

The newly built integrated center will be under the administration of Ayurvedic and Unani Tibbia College and Hospital, which will also be responsible for providing the manpower required to make the system functional. The Delhi Government will also appoint Modern medical science experts to the hospital from time to time.

On this occasion Shri Virender Singh Kadyan, (MLA, Delhi Cantt., Chairman, Rogi Kalyan Samiti), Sh. Vishesh Ravi (MLA, Karol Bagh), Ms. Manisha Saxena (Principal Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Department), and Dr. Raj K Manchanda (Director, AYUSH) were also present.

Shri Virender Singh Kadyan, Chairman of Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS) said that RKS will ensure proper utilization of this facility by the public at large. Shri Vishesh Ravi said that there was a dire need for such a hospital in the core area of Karol Bagh and gave his best wishes to all the hospital staff and administration on this occasion. Manisha Saxena (Principal Secretary, Health Dept.) ensured that all the required support will be provided to A & U Tibbia College for the smooth running of this hospital.

Dr. R K Manchanda (Director AYUSH) said that this facility shall also be used as a research centre for integrated research of Ayurveda and Unani in collaboration with modern medical science. This hospital has been facilitated by American India Foundation and supported by Mastercard, Bank of America and Goldman Sachs, we thank them all for being a part of this humanitarian project. Mathew Joseph, Country Director, American India Foundation who took an active part in the efforts of making this portable integrated hospital said “To ensure sustainable relief and preparedness for future emergencies, Rapid construction of portable hospitals will not only provide immediate relief to individuals and families who need it but also contribute to bolstering the Delhi’s healthcare infrastructure in the long term”.
