Imran Hussain takes note of several irregularities and deficiencies at the FPS in Laxmi Nagar

NEW DELHI:

Based on credible information, the Food & Civil Supplies Minister Shri Imran Hussain conducted a raid on a ration shop located in Laxmi Nagar area in East Delhi. An enforcement team of the Food & Supplies Department accompanied the minister for the raid. During the inspection, the minister observed that two E-Pos devices are being used by the FPS dealer instead of the single allocated E-Pos device. The investigating team has been directed to conduct a thorough investigation of both the FPS to whom the e-Pos machine belongs. Operating an E-Pos machine other than the one allocated for the concerned FPS is a serious violation of law, which indicates diversion and misappropriation of subsidised ration by the FPS dealer.

Taking the matter of the grave irregularities being committed on the part of the FPS dealer into serious consideration, the F&S Minister issued on-the-spot directions to the Commissioner (F&S) to conduct a thorough inquiry into the matter and take all warranted actions immediately as per law against the erring dealer and submit action taken report to him by tomorrow.

During the visit, Shri Imran Hussain observed that a godown was also being operated in the adjoining premises of the ration shop against departmental norms. The F&S Minister showed his displeasure and directed the Commissioner (F&S) to submit a detailed action taken report against the FPS dealer for violating departmental norms prohibiting the operation of godown from the FPS premises.

F&S Minister Shri Imran Hussain also interacted with the residents to ascertain the conduct of the ration dealer. He also took note of a number of deficiencies viz. improper display of boards/non-display of boards of FPSs, non-mentioning of prescribed information on the Notice Boards of FPS regarding stocks, number of beneficiaries etc. Taking cognizance of the matter, the minister directed the F&S Department to ensure the displaying of mandatory information outside their FPS premises regarding category-wise entitlement, stock position, the total number of beneficiaries, helpline numbers etc.
