These buses will run on 9 routes, Kamaruddin Nagar Terminal to Sarai Kale Khan, B Block Mangolpuri to Old Delhi Railway Station, Syed Nangloi Old Delhi to Railway Station, Mehrauli to Mayur Vihar Phase-3, Tikri Border to Delhi Secretariat, West Enclave to Shivaji Stadium, Dhaula Kuan to Bhati Mines, Mangolpuri B Block to R Block New Rajinder Nagar, Mangolpuri Q Block to Safdarjung Terminal

In a move to further strengthen the public transport system in the national capital, the Kejriwal Government today added an additional lot of 80 new AC CNG low floor buses under its cluster scheme. At an induction ceremony held at Rajghat Cluster Depot, the Transport Minister of Delhi, Shri Kailash Gahlot flagged off these newly inducted buses. The Chief Secretary of Delhi, Shri Vijay Kumar Dev and other senior officers of the Transport Department were also present during the event.

With the addition of these 80 new buses into the fleet of the Delhi Government’s public transportation system, the total number of buses reached an all-time high of 7,081, a feat that had never been achieved in Delhi’s history. As on date, cluster buses are operated on 328 city routes network. The additional 80 buses will be deployed on 09 additional cluster routes from the Ghumanhera Depot 1&2.

Congratulating the people of Delhi, Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal tweeted “Congratulations to the people of Delhi. 80 low-floor AC buses were added to the fleet of public buses today. We are continuously strengthening the bus network of Delhi. We will fulfill all the promises made to the people of Delhi.”

During the Flag-off event, briefing the media, Transport Minister Shri Kailash Gahlot said “We had already crossed the mark of 7000 buses recently. With the induction of these 80 buses, the number of buses has now reached an all-time high of 7081. These buses are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities including safety features for women passengers. We are keen towards providing Delhiites a world-class public transport system.” He further said “Taking a step forward towards adding more buses into Delhi’s public transport service, 80 new AC CNG buses were flagged off today. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal, we are committed to make Delhi’s public transport service strong and accessible.”

Salient Features

The newly inducted 80 AC CNG buses are equipped with state of the art facilities such as Bus kneeling with a foldable ramp for the differently-abled person, CCTV Cameras (Panic buttons with hooter) for women’s safety, live video streaming in case of emergency, GPS units for live tracking of the bus with two way communication with control room, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) System, Full Automatic transmission with rear engine, Disc brakes, Fire detection and suppression system to name the few. Also, the buses are fully Bharat Stage VI emission standard compliant.
