NEW DELHI:
The Aam Aadmi Party protested at BJP Headquarters against BJP’s extortion rackets running under the guise of bulldozer justice today. The protest was held under the leadership of AAP Senior Leader and MCD in-charge Shri Durgesh Pathak and the party’s MCD LoPs. Notably, BJP is threatening Delhiites saying they must pay ransom or they’ll demolish their homes. AAP stands in solidarity with all the people being harassed by BJP’s goons. Shri Durgesh Pathak said that BJP Councillors have understood these are their last days in the MCD so they are trying their best to mint money. North MCD LoP Shri Vikas Goel stated that people are being served conversion fee, house tax notices so BJP can extort money from them. South MCD LoP Shri Prem Chauhan said, “If they’ve to run bulldozers, BJP leaders’ houses must be demolished first for promoting illegal construction. First BJP got illegal construction done, now they’re threatening people to pay ransom”. While, East MCD LoP Shri Manoj Tyagi said that AAP demands BJP leaders to collectively issue an apology for harassing the people of Delhi.
Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and MCD in-charge Shri Durgesh Pathak said, “we are getting complaints from all over Delhi that BJP leaders are threatening people of bulldozing their homes. They are barging into homes saying that there is a problem in your house, your balcony is wrong and pointing out frivolous shortcomings. They are saying if you don’t want your house to be demolished, then pay ransom, otherwise we will get bulldozers to run over your house. BJP has been in power in MCD for 15 years. First they themselves allowed and promoted illegal constructions, now they are asking people to pay ransom. The elections were forcefully postponed due to the BJP’s fear of defeat at the hands of AAP. They’ve realised they only have a few days left in the MCD so they are trying their best to mint money out of their power.”
North MCD Leader of Opposition Shri Vikas Goel said, “the BJP has become a full-fledged goonda party. All BJP leaders, whether it is state president Adesh Gupta, their councillors, chairman of the standing committee, or local leaders are intimidating the people of Delhi that if you don’t pay us money, then your house will be demolished. Shops are being served notices of conversion fee and house tax to extort people under the guise of it. This is outright hooliganism. That’s why the Aam Aadmi Party has come out on the streets today. We will not allow this kind of hooliganism of BJP to continue.”
South MCD Leader of Opposition Shri Prem Chauhan said, “the way BJP is doing bulldozer politics is setting an absolutely wrong precedent for the country. First they themselves got illegal constructions done and now they are extorting people by threatening them of demolition. If you have to take out bulldozers, then it should not be run over the houses of the poor but on the houses of BJP leaders who are getting illegal construction done. I warn the BJP, if you try to spoil the atmosphere of Delhi by doing Hindu-Muslim, bulldozer politics, then the people of Delhi will not tolerate it at all.”
East MCD Leader of Opposition Shri Manoj Tyagi said, “in its greed for extortion, BJP has created ruckus in the whole of Delhi. The Aam Aadmi Party demands that all the BJP leaders collectively apologise to the people of Delhi for allowing illegal construction to take place.”
