There should be a sufficient number of tippers deployed for the disposal of garbage during the festive occasion- Imran Hussain

Food and Civil Supplies Minister Shri Imran Hussain today chaired a meeting with officers of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) in view of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations. He directed the officials to ensure adequate hygiene, sanitation and cleanliness on the roads and streets around religious places. The Minister also directed the MCD to provide adequate sanitation manpower for cleaning the streets and lanes and asked the officials to ensure to get the streets cleaned twice a day, in the morning and evenings, during the festive occasion. Shri Imran Hussain will personally monitor the sanitation and cleanliness drive throughout the state. The F&S Minister emphasised on the need to ensure hygiene and take out cleanliness drive before and after the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, i.e. coming Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Shri Imran Hussain said that during the festive occasion, a large number of devotees/visitors come to religious places to offer their prayers, and also go to greet relatives and friends and therefore it is necessary to maintain hygiene and cleanliness across the city. The Minister directed the officials to ensure utmost cleanliness at Eidgah and its surroundings during the festive occasion. He further added that there should be a sufficient number of tippers deployed for the disposal of garbage on a priority basis.
Apart from this, the Minister had already directed officials of the Delhi Jal Board to ensure the maintenance of proper drainage and an uninterrupted supply of freshwater to all the residents. Shri Imran Hussain said that arrangements for water tankers should also be ensured near religious places so that the devotees do not face water-related issues during the summer season.
Shri Imran Hussain had earlier directed BSES to ensure a regular supply of electricity for the festive occasion of Eid-ul Fitr. He also directed officials to ensure proper maintenance of the street lights installed in the area so that all street lights could be illuminated uninterruptedly. The BSES has been also asked to bring improvement in its efficiency management and complaint redressal system.
Shri Imran Hussain further said that the Kejriwal Government is committed to provide all necessary and basic facilities such as drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, ensuring cleanliness and functional street lights during the festive occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Shri Imran Hussain appealed to the citizens to follow COVID-19 protocols and adopt COVID appropriate behaviour during the festive occasion in the fight against COVID-19.
