Deputy Chief Minister Shri Manish Sisodia presented a cheque for Rs 1 crore to the family of late Dr Aabha Bhandari in recognition of her exemplary service during the COVID-19 pandemic, on Saturday. Dr. Bhandari was assigned as a senior medical officer at the Delhi Government Dispensary on Chamelian Road, where she became infected while serving patients during the pandemic. The Deputy Chief Minister visited her family at their home in Pratap Bagh and presented them with a Rs 1 crore cheque. Shri Sisodia stated that the Delhi Government honours the sacrifice of courageous COVID warriors like Dr. Bhandari, we will never forget the sacrifices of our warriors and will always support their families.
Shri Manish Sisodia tweeted, “a Samman Rashi of Rs 1 crore was handed over to the family of Senior Medical Officer Abha Bhandari Ji, who was martyred during the service of Delhiites fighting COVID. We will never forget the sacrifice of our COVID Warriors. The Delhi government will always stand by the side of their families, this is our promise.”
He further stated that during the unimaginable situation posed by the pandemic, doctors, paramedics, and sanitation workers fought shoulder to shoulder as frontline warriors and protected the society. He labelled the frontline workers as the support system of the country and said that it is because of their courage and resilience that the country could recover from the pandemic.
Shri Sisodia added, “The Kejriwal Government salutes the spirit of the COVID warriors. No amount cannot compensate for the loss of one’s life. It can not make up for the void they leave behind. But the government sincerely hopes and prays that it helps them gain the strength to overcome their grief.”
Notably, the Kejriwal Government has handed over a Samman Rashi of Rs 1 crore each to the families of 31 COVID warriors who lost their lives by getting infected while serving the people during COVID.
