The National Commission for Women (NCW) has initiated a training and capacity building program for women in dairy farming with the objective that training in new technology about value added dairy products, innovations in packaging, product development, etc. will improve the viability of women-led dairy organisations/farmers.
NCW has awarded this programme to the following 12 institutions:

The programme is available to all women engaged in dairy farming for developing their skills in value addition of milk products so as to enhance their incomes. NCW has not given any preference to any specific categories of women in this programme.
While the said programme does not include any element of financial incentive to the trained women, they can access Government of India’s existing schemes like the Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana and the schemes and programmes of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying such as the Central Sector scheme ‘Supporting State Dairy Cooperatives and Farmer Producer Organizations engaged in dairy activities’ for their needs pertaining financing, market access etc.
This information was given by the Union Minister of Women and Child Development, Smt.Smriti Zubin Irani, in a written reply in Lok Sabha today.
