Today is a special day for South Africa. On this day i.e. on December 7, 1992, the first innings ODI match was played in the country. Teams of India and South Africa were face to face in the match. Sachin Tendulkar also did an amazing job in the match. But they could not make India win. The hosts started off with a win at home as well as registering a thrilling win.
Kepler Wessels (केप्लर वेसेल्स) was captaining South Africa. Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin (माेहम्मद अजहरुद्दीन) won the toss and elected to bat in the match. Ajay Jadeja and WV Raman got the team off to a good start. Both added 92 runs for the first wicket. But in order to increase the run rate, no batsman could play for Team India. Jadeja scored the highest 48 runs.
Sachin Tendulkar scored only 15 runs
The Indian team returned to the pavilion after scoring 184 runs in 50 overs. WV Raman also scored 47 runs. Sachin Tendulkar could not play big innings. He scored 15 runs off 27 balls. Captain Azharuddin could only score 9 runs. Kapil Dev (कपिल देव) showed some good hands by scoring 27 runs off 27 balls. Fast bowler Hansie Cronje (हेंसी क्रोन्ये) performed brilliantly for South Africa. He gave only 32 runs in 10 overs and took 5 wickets.

South Africa’s team also had to struggle a lot to win the match. The team achieved the target in 49.3 overs for 4 wickets. Peter Kirsten scored the highest 56 runs. Sachin Tendulkar bowled amazingly. He gave only 25 runs in 10 overs and also took a wicket. This is one of his good performances. Kepler Wessels is run out. He became the first player to be given out by the third umpire.
