NEW DELHI:

In yet another one of its moves to plunder the state of Delhi, the BJP-ruled MCD has issued orders to hand over public land to the husband of a BJP Councillor. AAP Senior Leader and MCD In-charge Shri Durgesh Pathak stated — BJP Councillor Manju Khandelwal has crossed all heights of corruption by claiming she has done nothing wrong by handing over MCD-owned land to her own husband. A sitting BJP Councillor handing over prime land worth 50-60 crores to her own husband is no joke. This is a clear example of BJP’s corrupt mindset. BJP is functioning like a nexus of mafias which illegally takes over public assets and hands them over to its own people.

AAP Senior Leader and MCD In-charge Shri Durgesh Pathak said, “The BJP-ruled MCD is taking over lands in Delhi and giving them away to leaders within their own party. Manju Khandelwal, a councillor of the BJP, hailing from the Keshav Puram zone in Delhi, gave away an entire parcel of land belonging to the MCD to her own husband. What’s important to note is that, the address in the document regarding the transfer of land is also her own. She created an NGO in her husband’s name, and transferred the ownership of this land to said NGO. She has snatched the land belonging to the people of Delhi and handed it over to her husband for him to do as he pleases with the land, and make money off of it. This land is a prime-high-end estate, whose market value is approximately 50-60 crore rupees.”

He continued, “This sitting BJP councillor has shamelessly given an MCD owned property to her husband. I imagine that in politics, people observed some level of decorum and morality when it comes to matters like these. However, Smt. Khandelwal seems to have crossed all such limits. Her comment on the issue was published in today’s newspaper, in which she said – ‘There is nothing wrong in what I have done, so what if I gave the land to my husband? Many councillors do the same for their relatives.’ This tells us that there is an entire nexus established by the Bharatiya Janata Party during their tenure. There are many such properties, which the BJP has proposed to sell to private players and their own friends and family over the past 4-5 months. These include – Gandhi Maidan Parking area, Qutub Road Parking, Novelty Cinema, Naniwala Bagh, Moti Nagar Shopping Complex, 132 plots in Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar, schools in Shalimar Bagh and Karol Bagh, town hall buildings, hospital buildings and parkings – some 50 to 100 such elite and expensive properties, with market values in crores, are being sold off at throwaway prices by the BJP.”

He further said, “The BJP’s mechanism to carry out these sales is quite peculiar. They say, on paper, that they are giving the land to an ‘NGO’. Said NGOs are always either directly or indirectly linked to the BJP and its leaders, using the organisation as a front. Through this process, they have conspired to take over vast plots of lands in Delhi’s prime localities. The letter regarding the sale of this land to Smt. Manju’s husband was dated 16th December 2021, which means it has been some 45 days since the order was issued and approved by the Assistant Commissioner. I ask BJP State President Adesh Gupta that it has been 45 days since an order for the sale of land by your councillor to her husband was issued – shouldn’t you be ashamed of such shameless scams by your party members? Do you not see how wrong this action is, or how morally corrupt your councillors are? There couldn’t be a worse example of pathetic antics by a party in the Indian political scenario today, that a councillor is selling MCD-owned land to her own husband. I demand an answer from the other BJP leaders who are extorting money from everyone in the name of Ram Lalla, who I’m sure have lost their moral compass; yet I ask you, that this move, taking place under your watch, in your tenure, is absolutely unethical and vile?”

He added, “I firmly believe that this is an elaborate nexus set up by the BJP which is running in order to take over lands belonging to the people of Delhi, to the MCD and hand them over directly or indirectly to their own party members. And there is no way that the high command is unaware, or that the Assistant Commissioner would have approved this order without consulting the higher authorities in the BJP-led MCD. If such a major action has been taken, it means that all of the BJP and its leaders are complicit in this unethical move. Should I believe, Adesh Gupta Ji, that this entire process of plundering the high end properties of Delhi, is taking place under your watch? Should the people of Delhi believe that you are complicit, since you have not taken any action against this despite it having been 45 days. Delhi’s other properties are also proposed to be sold, but there has been no statement from you. These plots of land in Delhi’s prime areas are being sold at odd throwaway prices, but there is never any response from you when the Aam Aadmi Party brings it to public notice.”

He concluded, “Once this process is probed by an independent agency, I am sure that every single project will reveal that BJP leaders are directly or indirectly involved. Their greed knows no bounds that they are now selling land within the family, unsure of whether they will receive a nomination again or not, in order to secure some money in their pockets for the future. I politely ask Adesh Gupta – why haven’t you probed the matter or taken any action regarding this over the last 45 days? Do you or do you not plan to take any action at all, given that it has now been 24 hours since we brought this to public notice? If, in the next 24 hours, there is no action from your end, then the residents of Delhi will be compelled to believe that you and your entire BJP organisation is complicit in this immoral move.”
