A special meeting of the North Municipal Corporation of Delhi was called today to discuss the budget. Participating in the House debate, AAP North MCD Leader of Opposition Shri Vikas Goel protested against the BJP councillor of ward number 73N Manju Khandelwal giving her ward’s land to an NGO whose owner is the councillor’s husband. The Leader of Opposition has also demanded that the NGO return the MCD land after conducting a fair investigation into the matter.
Shri Vikas Goel said, “The North MCD House proceeding was held today. During the meeting, I brought up the issue of a BJP councillor giving land to her husband’s NGO – specifically how she obtained government land in Ashok Nagar in the name of her husband’s NGO. The rules of the corporation’s constitution forbid the councillor from benefiting any member of her family. Surprisingly, the BJP councillor and the MCD mayor say there is nothing wrong in what the councillor had done. The work done by the BJP councillor is not only illegal, but also carried out through a new and peculiar method of corruption.”
He further stated, “Earlier as well, the BJP-ruled MCD’s leaders have sold the corporation’s lands several times, which we have consistently protested and informed the public. The Aam Aadmi Party strongly condemns such immoral and corrupt behaviour. In the House proceeding, I demanded that the NGO return the MCD land after conducting a fair investigation into the matter. When the Aam Aadmi Party wins the upcoming MCD elections, it will have all of BJP’s scams investigated and take appropriate action.”
