NEW DELHI
Aam Aadmi Party to take out padyatra in all wards of Delhi against the issue of a BJP Councillor giving MCD land to her own husband. AAP Senior Leader and MCD In-charge Shri Durgesh Pathak stated — BJP is giving land to its own leaders for free using NGOs as a front. All three LoPs and AAP councillors will raise awareness about BJP’s corruption throughout Delhi. AAP had raised the matter during a North MCD session; forget about action, BJP leaders ran away from the discussion. AAP will keep protesting against the BJP until action is taken against the accused.
AAP Senior leader and MCD In-charge Shri Durgesh Pathak issued a statement on Saturday, in which he stated, “The Aam Aadmi Party brought to public notice how MCD councillor Manju Khandelwal gave the land of Ashok Nagar, which is worth 50 crores, for free to her husband Rajendra Khandelwal. We protested numerous times and demanded that MCD return the land. However, instead of taking any action against such corrupt behaviour, the councillor stated flatly that there is no harm in doing so since the land was given in the name of an NGO. By executing the handing over of land through an NGO, a wrong action does not become right. The BJP-led MCD, attempted to deceive the public by renaming a government land after an NGO. In reality, their councillor is handing over land to his own leaders. This is completely unethical.”
He further said, “The Aam Aadmi Party raised the issue in the North MCD House proceedings, but it received no attention. The rules of the MCD’s constitution forbid any councillor from benefiting a member of their family. Surprisingly, the BJP councillor and the corporation’s mayor say that they did nothing wrong. This BJP operation is not only illegal, but it is also a novel method of carrying out a large-scale robbery. Earlier as well, the corporation’s BJP leaders had sold the plots of MCD land several times, which we have always condemned and raised objections against.. Taking forward our protest, all the councillors of the Aam Aadmi Party and all the three LOPs will undertake a Padyatra in their respective wards on 6th February, which is tomorrow at 11 am. We will make the public aware of the flagrant corruption that the BJP-ruled MCD shamelessly indulges in. And we will continue to protest until action is taken on this matter.”
