The BJP-ruled MCD has reached a ghastly level of bigotry today. It has been exposed committing corruption even at crematoria; people being overcharged for pyre wood at Mangolpuri Shamshan. The BJP-ruled MCD is overcharging grieving families for pyre wood and cremation material. A huge scam in the entries of dead bodies has also been found at the Mangolpuri Shamshan. The Mangolpuri Shamsan is being run by BJP Mehrauli’s RWA President Sanjay Aggarwal’s NGO. AAP’s South MCD LOP Shri Prem Chauhan said that a proposal for action against Sanjay Aggarwal was brought to the Standing Committee meeting but Chairman BK Oberoi refused to accept it. While, Senior AAP Leader and MLA Shri Somnath Bharti said that AAP demands a thorough investigation in the matter and a criminal case against Sanjay Aggarwal & BK Oberoi.
Shri Somnath Bharti said, “For the past 15 years, the BJP has abused MCD in every way possible. Delhi’s land is being sold, schools are being closed, resources are being misused, and the BJP is determined to pauperize MCD. We never thought that the party that wants to vote solely on Hindutva, that party can fall so far and play with Hindu faith and tradition. On the one hand, CM Arvind Kejriwal campaigns in the country on how the people of the country should be strengthened in every way, whether it is education, health, electricity, water. At the same time, it is very sad that there is still so much audacity in the BJP that even after telling countless tales of their big corruption, they are not willing to stop.”
At the same time, LOP Shri Prem Chauhan said, “We have time and again unveiled and exposed the BJP’s corruption. What they’ve done today is completely shameful. There is a cremation ground in Mangolpuri ward. There were complaints that people were being extorted while buying wood for the cremation of those who died. They are overcharging for all the other materials used in the funeral. The entries of those who died are also being counted wrongly. If 100 people have been cremated, then the next is given the number 999 directly.”
He added, “When we came to know about this, we put pressure on the officials to investigate. In which all these things were found to be true. On the basis of that fact, in the meeting of the Standing Committee, the officials made a proposal that complaints of overcharging while selling wood & other materials, and the complaints of wrongdoing in the count of dead people, are all true. Whichever NGO is currently running it, it should be removed from the job and it be given to a new NGO or the MCD take it in its jurisdiction to work on it further. In the proposal number 98, information about an NGO named Shree Shyam Navodaya Sanskriti Sangh was given. On this, the Chairman of the Standing Committee, Col BJ Oberoi, refused to see the case. What was the pressure on him to not take it up? Which BJP leader was involved in this? When we tried to know all this, we came to know that the organisation involved in this belongs to a person named Sanjay Agarwal. Presently that person is BJP’s President of RWA Association from district Mehrauli. Apart from this, he has been associated with BJP on several fronts.”
Shri Bharti added, “The BJP’s degree of corruption has sunk so low that even the cremation yard and the dead have been targeted. They’re selling wood for a higher price, and they’re selling ritual materials for a higher price over that. It was covered in detail in a report that we have. We have the agenda for the meeting of the Standing Committee, which includes this report. It is quite disappointing to learn that it was paid heed to when it was presented at the Standing Committee meeting. As a result, a case that should have been heard right away wasn’t treated fairly. The problem, I often repeat, is not with the MCD, but with the BJP’s presence in the MCD.”
He continued, “This MCD, which the BJP has tainted with corruption to an extent that every department of MCD has become tarnished. And today another new example of it has come to the fore. Why was there no hearing? Why was the file returned? Aam Aadmi Party is a party of educated leaders, so we take everything seriously. The affidavit given in the said proposal has the name of the institution and its president. The name of the organisation is Shri Shyam Navodaya Sanskriti Sangh, whose president is Sanjay Agarwal. It is the same organisation which is running that cremation ground. Sanjay Agarwal Bittu’s name can be clearly seen in some official greetings addressed as the BJP District Mehrauli RWA Association President. What could be a better proof than this? The BJP has done a shameful job. This case exposes the BJP leaders. The Aam Aadmi Party demands that a criminal case should be registered against Sanjay Agarwal and BK Oberoi and a thorough investigation should be done. The BJP should answer what their intention is behind the incompetence in every single MCD department. Perhaps they have also realised that in the coming elections, the people of Delhi are going to throw the BJP out of MCD.”
