NEW DELHI:

The Directorate of Education (DoE) has intensified the preparations to empower Delhi students for the upcoming board exams. As CBSE has now announced that it will conduct the board examination from April 26, 2022 onwards, schools have started preparing students for the examinations. A meeting regarding the same was conducted by the Director Education on Saturday.

DoE has directed the Heads of Schools (HoSs) to ensure that students of senior secondary sections, class 10 and 12 attend the classes regularly. For next two months, teachers should strive for 100 students attendance and make optimum utilization of time in completing the syllabus and preparing students for examination through revision activities and practicals.

In the meeting, Director of Education Himanshu Gupta, Education Advisor Shailendra Sharma and Additional Director (School) Rita Sharma discussed the necessary preparations for the upcoming examinations as well as the opening of schools for classes from Nursery to VIII from Monday to all the school heads.

Focus points for preparations of board exams

  • Along with chapters, attention will be given to practical work; After online classes for a long time, it has become very important to focus better on the practical classes of the children so that they can get hands-on learning experience.
  • Individual attention will be given to each child for clearing their doubts.
  • Daily review meetings will be conducted by HoS, to understand the requirements of the students.
  • School heads will also be able to call additional resource persons using SMC funds as per the learning needs of the children.
  • Remedial classes will be conducted to enhance the confidence of students and recoup the loss in studies due to closure of schools.
  • Students can also download sample papers and learning materials by visiting the Academic and Examination section on the website of the Education Department, edudel.nic.in
  • Efforts will be made to bring back the children who have been away from school due to displacement or other reasons.
  • The Director of Education will conduct a review meeting with district-wise education officers and school heads from Monday onwards so that children can be better prepared for the examinations.

Classes from Nursery to VIII will start from Monday, in first two weeks focus will be on social-emotional well-being of children through mindfulness-happiness class and foundational activities

Delhi government schools are all set to welcome students of Nursery to Class 8 from February 14, Monday, after a gap of almost two years. To help students adjust in the school environment, Delhi Government’s Directorate of Education has asked all HoSs to focus on students’ social-emotional wellbeing in the first two weeks. Students will be encouraged to share their experiences freely and explore the new school environment.

School closure for two years has widened the learning gaps among students. In such a situation, it is important that when they return back to school, teachers’ focus should be on supporting their social emotional well being and strengthening the foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) skills through various activities.

What will be taken care of for the first 2 weeks after the school opens for primary classes

  • Schools will help children to overcome stress and fear through mindfulness and happiness classes, so that they are able to connect back to their formal studies.
  • Teachers will conduct one on one interactions with children to assess their reading and numeracy level and understand their emotional state..
  • Students will be given opportunities to share their experiences by creating a suitable environment at schools.
  • Instead of starting a new subject chapter, revision of the previous worksheets will be done.

After a long time classes from Nursery to 8 are going to start in Delhi from Monday. All the schools of the Directorate of Education are fully prepared to welcome students back in schools. In this regard, a circular was also issued by the Directorate of Education on Friday. According to which, after the reopening of the schools, efforts will be made to reintegrate children with their school by creating a suitable environment instead of hurrying them up to catch up the syllabus.
