The BJP has made a spectacle with its flagrant ill-governance and corruption, making it well known that people should learn how to earn a PhD in these matters from this party. Speaking about how the BJP is tainted head to toe with incompetence, AAP MLA Shri Somnath Bharti and South MCD LOP Shri Prem Chauhan stated — BJP-ruled MCD repeatedly cheating DBC workers by giving them false hopes of permanent jobs. BJP-ruled South MCD itself accepted that they’ve been relying on DBC workers for the last 22 years. Leave aside regularisation, DBC workers are not even getting respectable posts in the MCD because of BJP. CM Arvind Kejriwal’s pro-people policies lead to the regularisation of 700 Jal Board staffers; we will rid the DBCs of their woes soon. Just a matter of 2 more months now; people are confident that the Kejriwal Model will come to MCD too.
AAP Senior Leader and MLA Shri Somnath Bharti said, “We have repeatedly raised our concerns regarding employees working for the MCD and the relentless corruption that goes on in the BJP-ruled MCD. The BJP has tainted every aspect, every department of the MCD with such flagrant misgovernance, that every MCD worker is now fed up. The MCD workers are subjected to severe exploitation. Recently, for the first time in the history of the Delhi Government, 700 non-regular workers of the Delhi Jal Board were legitimised and given the respect they have waited for all their lives. Forget Delhi, never have employees been regularised on such a large scale in the entire country – no such efforts have been made by any government in the past. On the contrary, we have the BJP, both in as well as outside of the MCD, with its adverse policies, nefarious intentions, and its hate-oriented politics and work.”
He continued, “A unique example of BJP’s misgovernance will be exposed today. Whenever communicable diseases spread, like the coronavirus, chikungunya, malaria, the Domestic Breeding Checkers (DBC) are responsible to look after its prevalence. They are required to carry out door-to-door inspections to check for stagnant water, or breeding hubs. During the entire coronavirus pandemic, they put their lives at stake and worked tirelessly. Every worker has a dream to have job security wherever they are appointed. However, forget job security, the BJP did not even do the bare minimum of giving positions to these workers. The BJP has secured a PhD in ill governance, impolicies, and corruption. One can take a lesson or two in how to get a doctorate in such matters.”
He further elaborated on Indrajeet Sehrawat’s statement during the budget session and said, “When you hear what he had to say, you will get goosebumps; you will be appalled at the new lows BJP has reached to torment the DBC workers. There’s a total of 3500 such workers in all three MCDs who have been contractual for the past 22 years, out of which 15 years of misgovernance took place at the hands of the BJP, and remaining 7 by Congress. It has been admitted that the Public Health Department has been availing the service of these contractual workers for the past 22 years. Every year we see the spread of dengue, malaria, and chikungunya, when the services of these DBC workers become a necessity. The MCD has also accepted that the age group of these employees ranges from 40-50 years, and they are not fit for any new jobs either. In view of this, Indrajeet Sehrawat has proposed that rules to regularise 1155 such workers in the South MCD must be formulated. It is 2022, and they are still proposing the idea of regularisation.”
He added, “The fact that there is no such position as Domestic Breeding Checker is the clearest indication of their mismanagement. These workers are now receiving at least as much as minimum wage, thanks to Kejriwal ji’s implementation of the higher minimum wage in Delhi. I’m not sure what would have happened to them if it hadn’t been for that. They now claim that they will adjust their nomenclature and hire multitasking employees. This is also a joke and a method of deception. They seek to change the nomenclature because their post has not been officiated. I’ve received letters several times throughout the last 15 years. These people always dangle the lollipop of false promises to employees and claim that they will make the posts permanent.”
He continued, “The Aam Aadmi Party is standing in solidarity with the 3500 DBC employees today, demanding that the BJP not mislead the people by lying in this manner. The BJP has been saying since the budget address that they will make rules, but they will not be able to do so. We will do this after our government is formed in two months. I’d like to remind my DBC colleagues that you have been treated unfairly for the past 22 years by the BJP. But don’t lose heart; it’s only a matter of two months. Then there are the elections for the MCD. For the past 22 years, you have been subjected to injustice. Since the last 15 years, the BJP has been treating you unfairly. Nobody has looked after you, but don’t give up hope; it’s only a matter of two months. According to the people of Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party will be elected in MCD this time. As a result of Arvind Kejriwal’s pro-people policy, which was demonstrated in the Jal Board, full justice will be served on you as well. What hasn’t happened in 22 years will be fulfilled by the Aam Aadmi Party.”
AAP’s LoP for South MCD Shri Prem Chauhan said, “We can easily summarise BJP’s misdeeds with ‘Aisa Koi Saga Nahi, Jisko BJP Ne Thaga Nahi’ (the BJP has spared no one in its plundering and looting). After admitting that for the past 15 years that they have been in power, they have been availing services of the Domestic Breeding Checkers, but they have not provided them with any support. The world is advancing in technology, while these DBC workers are not even given proper uniforms. They are compelled to work with an apparatus which leaks water and burns their backs, and have to buy masks themselves. Additionally, there is no insurance for these workers in case of adverse consequences – health or otherwise like CGHS.These people have given us a dedicated 22 years of their lives and received nothing in return from the MCD. Every Diwali, the BJP promises regularisation for these workers. But that seems like a long shot, given they cannot even issue a respected position for these people. All they have done is issued a statement in haste that you will regularise MTS/DBC positions, where it should be MTS/Health. So overall, the BJP-ruled MCD has issued this order to mislead the people of Delhi and its workers. The worker who has been tormented for the past 22 years reads into every single impolicy and misstep of yours. They will not be misled for the Aam Aadmi Party stands in solidarity with them. All of BJP’s incessant exploitation is about to end soon.”
