Exposing the BJP’s hastily spewed web of lies, AAP Senior Leader and MCD In-charge Shri Durgesh Pathak alongwith MLA Shri Kuldeep Kumar brought to public notice yet another one of BJP-ruled MCD’s election gimmicks. Shri Pathak stated – BJP ruled MCD spinning yet another web of lies through its hollow promises of regularisation. BJP’s Delhi Unit President Shri Adesh Gupta is repeatedly cheating Safai Karamcharis held another press conference yesterday to fool them in the name of permanent jobs. Safai Karamcharis have personally told me that they’re being falsely promised regularisation for years but not once has it been fulfilled. BJP promised to give 10 lac as compensation to Safai Karamcharis who died of Covid but did not pay it to even one person. I could see the fear and agony in Adesh Gupta’s eyes while he declared the false claim of regularising Safai Karamcharis. AAP Senior leader and MCD In-charge Shri Durgesh Pathak said, “I was watching a press conference held by the BJP yesterday, in which BJP Delhi President Shri Adesh Gupta was present, along with all the MCD mayors and other dignitaries from the party. I observed Shri Adesh Gupta very meticulously and saw the fear and agony of completely losing power in the MCD in his eyes. There was a noticeable rift between the words he was speaking and the thoughts that were running through his mind. A press conference being conducted by the BJP was a matter of great recognition, for it had been a public demand for years. But I distinctly observed the lack of confidence in Shri Adesh Gupta while he spoke, and I realised that right before the elections, he is yet again spinning a blasphemous web of lies.”
He continued, “The Bharatiya Janata Party has been referred to as the party of gimmicks by Home Minister and former Party President Shri Amit Shah himself, further stating that they actively indulge in election gimmicks for votes. However, in BJP’s press conference yesterday, there was an atmosphere of desperation and they seemed to be collecting the last scraps in order to not lose the upcoming MCD elections. It could be easily observed how worried the mayors and the entire panel were and how blatantly they are lying to the public through the press. Their faces reflected the lies they were spewing. They said that they will regularise the MCD’s Safai Karamcharis (sanitation workers). It made me happy to hear this promise of theirs for the Aam Aadmi Party had been proposing this regularisation for a long time, but had not been supported in the past by the BJP-led MCD. So it seemed to be a ray of hope that they wanted to actually make a change. But as soon as the press conference ended, we received calls from a large number of Safai Karamcharis claiming that the BJP had told a white lie yet again. When asked how, the MCD workers stated that till date the BJP has made innumerable claims promising regularisations, but not once have they seen it through.”
Shri Pathak further elaborated, “They informed me that the BJP had made these declarations in 2013, in 2016, and in 2018, 2019, 2020 – repeatedly every year, every 6 months, they make these empty promises that they will regularise Safai Karamcharis. But it is unfortunate that the Safai Karamchari is the biggest warrior in Delhi’s maintenance as a clean and green city. These workers deserve the respect and recognition for their work, something they have been tirelessly doing for over 25 to 30 years without being regularised. Generations have passed with these workers demanding some sense of security in their jobs, but they are continuously being cheated and exploited by the BJP-ruled MCD. Just 15 days back, the Budget Session was held in the MCD House, wherein the Budget for FY 2022-23 was proposed. Our councillors and LoPs kept asking why the proposal for the regularisation of Safai Karamcharis was not brought in, and why a section of the budget was not allotted to them. But they had no answers. Suddenly, the weight of the matter struck them just yesterday due to which they hastily announced yet another election gimmick. They were afraid of how they would face election campaigns amidst the Safai Karamcharis, and hence declared this empty promise yet again. I do not need to say more to prove how big of a lie this declaration is, the Safai Karamcharis were themselves expressing that none of these promises have ever been translated into reality. And now that there are hardly 10 days remaining before the Model Code of Conduct is imposed, they have simply issued a press release on paper without any actual work of creating posts or allocating the budget.”
He added, “I want to tell Adesh Gupta, your time is over now. The barbaric rule of corruption and bigotry is coming to an end. The Aam Aadmi Party and the people of Delhi have united to make sure that your tyranny ends. We will ensure that not only are you kicked out of power but that all your bonds are forfeited in each ward and each booth. I want to tell the Safai Karamcharis — frent not, we are here for you. They are making a joke out of you. Neither have they paid the 10 lac rupees of compensation they had announced for martyred workers nor are they going to regularise you. All of this is an eyewash meant to fool you. We all have to seek revenge together and throw them out of the MCD in such a way that no one ever dares to treat you like this.”
MLA Shri Kuldeep Kumar said, “The Safai Karamcharis of Delhi head out of their homes early in the morning, to clean the streets of Delhi. But despite all their struggle they haven’t been regularised for decades because of the BJP. Whenever the election comes, they use this issue as an election gimmick. Adesh Gupta must answer why he has been fooling people under the garb of regularisation while knowing they haven’t done so in 15 years of their rule. These people don’t remember these workers during their rule. They have not allocated any funds for them. The Safai Karamcharis, and the whole of Valmiki Samaj of Delhi won’t be fooled this time. We will resist this together and show the BJP its place. All the BJP leaders have together cheated the community. Be it Manoj Tiwari, Adesh Gupta, or their senior leadership everyone only lies to them. Everyone can see through this farce now and the BJP’s time in power is nearing an end. BJP only has jumlas to give to the people, nothing else and this is why all of their bonds will be forfeited in the coming elections.”
