Perfect opportunity for Delhi residents before the MCD elections to see a clear comparison of BJP and AAP’s work: Saurabh Bhardwaj
NEW DELHI:
The Aam Aadmi Party has readily accepted BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri’s challenge of comparing MCD and Delhi government’s progress in schools, hospitals, dispensaries, and the like. AAP Chief Spokesperson and MLA Shri Saurabh Bharad stated – We are ready to arrive at any time and place that the BJP decides to compare MCD and Delhi Government’s schools. BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri was quoted on official BJP Delhi handle saying Kejriwal does not stand a chance if MCD and Delhi Government schools are compared. I accept Ramesh Bidhuri’s invitation and challenge him to not back down from a fight he himself picked. This is the perfect opportunity for Delhi residents before the MCD elections to see a clear comparison of BJP and AAP’s work.
Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj said, “It is the right of the public of Delhi to be aware about the responsibilities of the MCD as well as those of the Delhi Government. It is interesting to note that on 22nd February, MP from BJP Shri Ramesh Bidhuri issued a statement which was tweeted by the official handle of BJP Delhi. In this, he said that if the MCD schools are compared with Delhi’s government schools, then Kejriwal will not stand a chance. This was an official challenge to the Aam Aadmi Party Government in comparing its schools with the MCD. After seeing this tweet, I responded by tweeting ‘When should we go compare? Simultaneously let us also compare the hospitals of MCD. We will also call the press.’ Bidhuri Ji not only agreed, but went a step ahead and challenged a comparison between dispensaries and Mohalla Clinics as well – the amount of money being spent on the Kejriwal Government’s Mohalla Clinics versus the MCD dispensaries should also be compared. A proper comparison on rural development works in the past 7 years was also proposed by the BJP MP, in addition to a comparison between the corruption level between the MCD and the Delhi Government. I saw that Ramesh Bidhuri Ji is now playing on the front foot, so why should I back off? Hence I immediately responded saying that I am ready for us to compare the following – condition of schools, literacy level of 5th class students in MCD schools, hospitals, the amount spent in building these, treatment of the ill, medicine availability and so on. Adding to this, I asked him for a date and time to call the news channels for this comparison and discussion.”
He added, “I had accepted this challenge the day before yesterday. We waited all day after that hoping that Shri Ramesh Bidhuri would respond with an ideal date and time for said comparison to take place. This would be a major step for the country’s democracy and especially for Delhi residents right before elections, to gauge the work that has been done by the MCD in schools and hospitals over the last 15 years versus the progress made by the Delhi Government in the last 7 years in these sectors. There should be no grounds for hesitation in this healthy comparison. We also know that the challenge for this comparison was initiated by the BJP itself. Hence, today we are deciding on a format to carry out this comparison. All we ask from Shri Ramesh Bidhuri to name the top five schools under the MCD in his opinion, and we will place our top five government schools in its contrast. Date and time can be decided by Bidhuri Ji himself, given he’s an MP and is busier. We value his time and will make ourselves available as per his convenience. The two of us will carry out a proper inspection of the 5 MCD schools that he names, along with people from the media, since it is the fourth pillar of democracy – it is the eyes and ears of the public. Everything that is revealed during these inspections must be printed in newspapers and shared on news channels. We will then go and conduct a survey of Delhi’s top government schools. At the end of the day, all facts will come to the surface and the truth will reveal itself.”
He further said, “Coming to dispensaries – he may similarly name 5 of the best MCD dispensaries, the amount spent on these; the condition of patient treatment can be gauged on our inspection visit itself. We in turn will provide a list of 5 of our Mohalla Clinics, each of which we will visit together with Ramesh Bidhuri Ji. This way, a clear comparison will take place between the two. If it has to be taken even further, then they can name 3 MCD hospitals, and we will name 3 Delhi government hospitals in return. We will visit and inspect those as well with proper cameras and equipment with the media. We will go and speak with the patients and doctors in both hospitals, check on the situation of tests and medicines in each, as well as survey other statistics like surgeries and their types. All such matters will hence be compared and contrasted, and the matter will be put to rest. It will be a monumental step and it is a crucial opportunity for the people of Delhi to see firsthand a comparison between the work done by the Aam Aadmi Party versus the BJP. So I invite Ramesh Bidhuri Ji, accept his invitation of challenge to begin with, and further challenge him and his party to not run away from this chance at a fair competition. You should stand steadfast and rise up to the challenge and prove your statements.”
Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj concluded, “MCD schools versus Delhi government schools; MCD hospitals versus Delhi government hospitals; MCD dispensaries versus Mohalla Clinics – these are the comparisons that the public of Delhi wants to see. Ever since I have tweeted my acceptance to his challenge, many people have contacted me via phone calls, WhatsApp and SMS, as well as replies under the tweet itself, saying that Ramesh Bidhuri Ji will now escape this challenge and go back on his words. Many have said that he dug a hole for himself and is now trapped, and will hence disappear. But I believed him to be a strong willed person who doesn’t run away out of fear. Hence, I again challenge Ramesh Bidhuri Ji; he is like an elder brother to me – to come forward and join me in inspecting MCD’s schools and hospitals. All he has to do is give us a date, time, and a place. Given Delhi BJP’s ongoing press conference, the media should raise questions about this to the party as well. This is a positive sign in Indian politics according to me, especially for our democracy that such a clear comparison is taking place.”
