Modern labs have been set up in Delhi’s ITI in last 4-5 years; trainees are getting hands-on experience for field work: Dy CM Manish Sisodia

NEW DELHI:

The Kejriwal Government is committed to promoting technical education in Delhi and upskilling the youth in the city. In this direction, Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Shri Manish Sisodia on Friday inaugurated a new academic block with state-of-the-art infrastructure, a luxurious cosmetology lab and a modern plumbing lab developed in collaboration with Jaquar Foundation at ITI Jahangirpuri. On this occasion, the Deputy CM said – Talented students coming out of training institutes like ITI will write a new chapter in the future. Our country will become developed only when every youth of the country is skilled. Our ITI students are getting jobs in big companies due to their exceptional skills, but now there is a need to create such an environment so that they become not only job seekers but also job creators. They must do their work in such a way that new jobs get created because of their efforts.

Shri Manish Sisodia said, “Quality labs are being set up in ITIs as per market requirements so that children can get hands-on experience for field work. These days, the focus is on professional courses all over the world. But even today, along with India and other developing countries, it is a given in the minds of children that if they do not complete their graduation, they have achieved nothing. On the contrary, in developed countries the focus is on technical education. Today, when a job vacancy with 8th class eligibility criteria is released, thousands of graduates apply for the job. In such a situation, what is the use of that graduation degree which cannot get you a job?”

He continued, “This mindset has started changing in many countries of the world and they have started moving away from their traditional beliefs regarding education and have started focusing on technical education. In India too, we need to move forward with this thinking. In the last few years there has been a tremendous change in ITIs and quality technical education has been promoted here keeping in view the market demand.”

Shri Manish Sisodia concluded, “In the last 4-5 years, Delhi DTTE has partnered and signed MoUs with reputed industry partnerships like TVS Motor, LG Electronics, Quast Alliance, Crown Plaza Hotel, NBCC India Limited, Jaquar Foundation, Siemens, Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, Hyundai Motor to improve the training quality and had made them more trade oriented. As a result of this, the children studying in our ITI are getting excellent training as well as job opportunities from these companies.”
