Showing early signs of defeat, the BJP has already started to run away from the election battlefields of the MCD. Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday slammed the BJP and the Election Commission for postponing the MCD elections under pressure from the BJP’s Central Government. He stated — BJP has run away after sensing a drastic defeat in MCD elections. It has manipulated the Election Commission into deferring upcoming polls. People of Delhi will seek revenge for this brutal murder of democracy. AAP’s Jhaadu will sweep the MCD clean with 260 seats and kick BJP out. Senior Aam Aadmi Party Leader and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Shri Manish Sisodia on Wednesday exposed the Election Commission, saying — BJP has so brutally infringed upon democratic values that it has reduced the election commission to a laughing stock. BJP fears facing the public with the report card of its MCD rule; trying to cover up its scams and run away from the fight. CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal took to Twitter to say, “BJP has run away after sensing a drastic defeat in MCD elections. It has manipulated the Election Commission into deferring upcoming polls. Addressing a press conference, Dy CM Shri Manish Sisodia said that today is an unfortunate, dangerous and dark day for the country’s democracy when the Election Commission, under pressure of BJP, refused to hold elections in Delhi. He said that the Election Commission was about to announce the date of the MCD elections in Delhi at 5 pm on Wednesday through a pre-announced press-conference, but just before that the BJP sitting at the center pressurized EC to postpone the announcement. When the constitution has given strength to the Election Commission that it will not bow down to anyone and will conduct elections on time, why is the Election Commission afraid and bowing before the BJP. If this tradition continues, BJP will postpone the state elections due to fear of defeat, Narendra Modi will postpone the Lok Sabha elections due to fear of defeat.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that in the past 15-17 years, BJP has ruined MCD with corruption and scams. Now their leaders are scared and do not have courage to face the elections and the people of Delhi. They are trying to hide behind the issue of unification and are pressuring the EC to postpone the pre-announced elections. Unification process can be very well followed after the announcement of the election dates. BJP leaders know that out of 272 seats under Delhi Municipal Corporation, AAP is going to win 250 seats. And after this incident, we are going to win even more seats.
Shri Sisodia said that BJP should not assassinate democracy and EC should take their responsibilities seriously. The Constitution has given powers to the EC to conduct elections impartially. They must use it and conduct the MCD elections on time. Today BJP is trying to delay the elections by hook or by crook but residents of Delhi will not let this happen. Delhiites will not let anyone assassinate the democracy of India. As a result of this step by BJP and EC, now AAP will win 260 seats in MCD elections.
