On 11th April 2022, BJP leaders ransacked the Sonia Vihar UGR set up by the Delhi Government and contaminated the water there. AAP Senior Leader and MCD In-Charge Shri Durgesh Pathak claimed that the BJP has turned so hostile towards the Aam Aadmi Party that it has endangered the lives of Delhi residents. Protesting against this shameful act of the BJP, the Aam Aadmi Party today gheraoed BJP State President Adesh Gupta. Earlier, following the lead of Shri Durgesh Pathak, all three Leaders of Opposition – Shri Vikas Goel, Shri Prem Chauhan, and Shri Manoj Tyagi – raised anti-BJP slogans. Today’s protest took place near Patel Part, West Patel Nagar Metro Station, during which the Aam Aadmi Party demanded that Adesh Gupta resign immediately as it is due to his party members and their antics that water supply in East Delhi has been cut off. In addition, AAP demanded a thorough investigation into the contaminants which were mixed in the water, and that all perpetrators should be punished immediately.
Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and MCD in-charge Shri Durgesh Pathak said, “The Delhi Government developed the UGR to resolve the water issue in Sonia Vihar. Yesterday, BJP leaders ransacked it and contaminated the water by mixing the harmful substances in it. The BJP has turned so immensely hostile towards the Aam Aadmi Party that it has fallen as far as endangering the lives of thousands of people. The Aam Aadmi Party staunchly opposes these shameful antics of the BJP, and we have hence gheraoed their party’s state president Adesh Gupta today.”
AAP Leader of Opposition for South MCD Shri Prem Chauhan said, “Yesterday, BJP goons vandalised a UGR that was responsible for providing water to East Delhi. The Delhi Government was in charge of supplying water to all of East Delhi’s assemblies, which it had arranged through this UGR. However, the BJP is so envious of the Aam Aadmi Party and CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal that it is constantly attempting to derail Delhi Government’s progress. Instead of sabotaging the work being done by the Aam Aadmi Party, I urge the BJP to invest their time on development works in the MCD and create a UGR there. It is crucial to investigate the contaminant the BJP goons added to the water because it has the potential to kill people. Shame on the BJP for stooping to the level of attempting to endanger the lives of Delhi residents. We demand an immediate and thorough investigation so that the perpetrators can be punished at the earliest. Also, BJP State President Adesh Gupta must resign as it is due to his party members and their antics that water supply in East Delhi has been cut off. People have suffered greatly as a result of the area’s water crisis, which is solely the fault of the BJP.”
AAP Leader of Opposition for North MCD Shri Vikas Goel said, “For many years, North East Delhi faced severe water shortage, and no government had been able to solve their problem. Today, when Delhi CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal built a UGR in the area, the people of that area began to receive water. However, the BJP arbours such deep hatred for the Aam Aadmi Party that last evening, around 300 people, including Manoj Tiwari and Adesh Gupta, entered the UGR, broke its gate and completely vandalised the place. The officials there revealed a surprising fact that the BJP supporters added a mysterious substance, a contaminant to the water. The BJP’s petty and hateful politics has intensified, especially since the Aam Aadmi Party won the Punjab elections. They have, on occasion, even tried to assassinate Delhi’s Chief Minister by sending goons to his residence. These people have now reached a new low by endangering the lives of the people of Delhi. The BJP’s dirty politics pose a significant threat to democracy.”
AAP Leader of Opposition for East MCD Shri Manoj Tyagi said, “The manner in which BJP Delhi State President Adesh Gupta vandalised the UGR of Wazirabad yesterday clearly demonstrates that these people are causing damage to the Aam Aadmi Party’s public and property. Sometimes they end up at the CM’s residence and break the CCTV cameras there, while other times they vandalise the area around the residence. The BJP appears to be a terrorist organisation rather than a political party – always involved in sabotage, conflict, and quarrels.”
