Impressed by the Kejriwal Model of Governance, the youth of Himachal is swaying towards AAP – Satyendar Jain
New Delhi:
Aam Aadmi Party’s influence continues to grow in Himachal Pradesh. Inspired by the exemplary work being done by the Kejriwal Government in all areas including schools, hospitals, electricity, water, roads, people are constantly joining the Aam Aadmi Party. In the same vein, in the presence of Aam Aadmi Party’s state election in-charge and Delhi Cabinet Minister Satyendar Jain, 106 youth leaders, including ultramarathon athlete Sunil Sharma, joined the Aam Aadmi Party. Shri Satyendar Jain welcomed the hero of ‘The Great India Run’ and inducted him into AAP along with his supporters at the Aam Aadmi Party headquarters on Monday.
Shri Satyendar Jain wished Sunil Sharma well for his bright future and expressed confidence in him to work with true devotion and dedication in the Aam Aadmi Party. At the same time, Sunil Sharma, impressed by the working style of Aam Aadmi Party, assured Shri Satyendar Jain to lead the party towards quadruple success day and night.
Shri Satyendar Jain said, “Sunil Sharma is a world-class sprinter. He ran 1480 km from Delhi to Mumbai in The Great India Run in 2016. Completed the 250 km run from Chandigarh to Delhi in 38 hours 25 minutes as a part of the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign. Completed the Amarnath Yatra trek in just 18 hours, which would take 3 days for an average person to complete. Sunil regularly participates in marathon events held in various states. In 2018, he became the Asian record holder in Sirmour Run-2 by covering a distance of 214.73 km in 24 hours. Sunil has become a source of inspiration for thousands of young athletes on social media. Sunil and his colleague are very impressed with the Kejriwal Model, and that is why they are joining the Aam Aadmi Party.”
He added, “just as the Aam Aadmi Party is providing better facilities to the youth and sportspersons in Delhi, world class facilities will be given to the players in Himachal too. The youth will not need to practice by going 100-200 km away. In the future, there will be many Sunil Sharmas in Himachal, who will not wander due to lack of facilities, but will bring them by winning medals for the country.”
He continued, “Till now BJP leaders and workers used to say that the Arvind Kejriwal Government is distributing facilities to the people free of cost, but now the BJP itself is copying us, but still it has failed to imitate our policies completely. Bus travel has been made free for women in Delhi for the last four years by the Kejriwal government. 20 thousand liters of water is being given free of cost, Whereas BJP is talking about making water free in only half the areas. If another party has to copy us then it is clear that the Aam Aadmi Party is on the right track. BJP has proved that whatever they deprived people of their free facilities for the last many years was absolutely wrong. Now that the real Aam Aadmi Party has reached Himachal, there is no need for imitators. This time the people of Himachal will not form the government of the imitators but of the people that will make creative efforts in providing an exemplary form of governance.”
On this occasion, Shri Sunil Sharma said, “I am joining the Aam Aadmi Party today after getting fed up with the leaders and governance system in Himachal. I have been playing for the last 20 years. For the last 4 years, I have represented India at the world level as well. I have proved my talent in the US, South Africa, Brazil, France, and Taiwan. But despite being an international player, I was not given even a field facility to practice in my hometown by the central government and the Himachal government. I have to go to Chandigarh for practice. Many youths in the village have talent but are not getting the required facilities. They can’t go that far to practice and demanding facilities from the government only leads to disappointment. There are doctors, physiotherapists, coaches, better infrastructure, and stadiums for players abroad, but the situation here is very bad.”
He said “I am the son of a common man, a farmer. Had I been the son of a politician or a minister, I would have availed good facilities and a job. I have been fighting a battle for myself and the youth for the last 6 years so that the youth of our country can make progress in sports and bring laurels to the country. This will be possible only when they get a better platform. Himachal CM Jairam Thakur makes a policy for rafting and cricket but there is no policy for an athletes. There is no one to support us. This is the reason why I was compelled to join politics after leaving sports so that by joining the Aam Aadmi Party, I could do better for other youth.”
He added, “games can be played in politics but politics should not be played in the sports sector. Till date, I have run more than 2 lakh kilometers but I have never been so tired as I have become now of going through Himachal Vidhan Sabha and Secretariat day in and day out. Aam Aadmi Party thinks about sportspersons. The Delhi Government is giving a chance to the players to showcase their talents to the country and the world by creating a sports university and providing various facilities. I am joining the party after seeing AAP’s policies and Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s work.”
