NEW DELHI:

Today, the Department of Women and Child Development reinforced their commitment to the Kejriwal Government’s vision of driving full integration of women in the economy of family and state by promoting women entrepreneurship and female work participation. This is being made effective by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU), which will further consolidate the goals of fostering and empowering women as active agents of change in the economy of Delhi. The MoU was signed by WCD Director and DSEU Registrar in the presence of Delhi Women and Child Development Minister Shri Kailash Gahlot. Principal Secretary, WCD, Pro Vice Chancellors, DSEU and other senior officials from WCD and DSEU were present during the occasion.

Anchored in the WCD’s ‘Samriddhi Project’, the MOU aims to undertake Women Entrepreneurship Development Program to train existing and new women entrepreneurs in NCT of Delhi for establishing their own enterprise using the platform of DWCD’s Saheli Samanvay Kendra (SSK) Anganwadi Hubs .The SSK is a unique intervention developed during the period of the COVID pandemic for facilitating collective action to address socio-economic needs of women, girls, and children through more effective utilization of Anganwadis.

The MOU reflects a collective approach in supporting women entrepreneurs at different stages of their entrepreneurial journey by offering learning opportunities using the platform of SSK anganwadi hubs, imparting skill training, establishing market linkages, leveraging various government schemes and programmes, empowering them to use technology to spur innovation, executing high impact programmes and initiatives to support women led start-ups through access to resources that help build their businesses and will further strengthen efforts to provide women an enabling entrepreneurship ecosystem to nurture and grow their entrepreneurship skills/ventures. This partnership is expected to pave the way for women entrepreneurs in Delhi to aspire to new heights of success and would serve as a catalyst for more women entrepreneurs to scale their ambitions by tapping into their capabilities and expertise.

On the occasion Women and Child Development Minister Shri Kailash Gahlot said, “Today we are embarking on a wonderful journey not just to empower women through providing them opportunities, but also to educate them to empower themselves and generations to come. I am hopeful for impressive outcomes that will result from this partnership. The Delhi Government is highly focused on creating employment, which is heavily reflected in our Rozgar Budget this year too. With this MoU, we are developing an ecosystem to launch an era of women entrepreneurs through not just skilling, but also providing them a platform to come up with their own innovative livelihood ideas.”
