The BJP’s real face got exposed today after its Central Government ordered demolition of Delhi’s famous Neelkanth Mahadev Mandir in Sriniwaspuri region. As soon as the news came to the fore, the Aam Aadmi Party reached the spot to protect the temple from the demolition and staged a protest. At the helm of the protest was Senior Leader and MLA Ms Atishi who said that the BJP is now running bulldozers over temples to fulfil its lust for money. She stated — BJP is not only bulldozing the temple but the faith of crores of people just because it wants to loot money from the temple’s gullak. AAP has made up its mind — we will not allow BJP to demolish the temple; we are standing here with the people of Sriniwaspuri and we will fight back. No matter how much force BJP puts in, AAP will not allow bulldozers to run over a single temple in Delhi. At the same time, local AAP MLA Shri Madan Lal stated, “People are in shock to see the BJP’s Central Government paste a notice of demolition at the doors of an age-old temple. The only reason why the BJP has issued this notice is their lust for money; they want to extort money from the temple.”
AAP Senior Leader and MLA Ms Atishi said, “This is nothing but the new trend that the BJP has resorted to – its ‘Bulldozer’ politics and justice, which is rooted in extortion, threats, hooliganism, and intimidation. They are now going door to door demanding money from the residents of Delhi and threatening them with demolition if people do not comply or give in. They have barged into homes, shops, restaurants, and many such establishments with goons, bullying and threatening people left, right, and centre. Their greed for money has reached such an extreme that they are not even sparing Lord Shri Ram’s temple donations. They have gone as far as issuing a demolition notice on a temple – what is this undying need to make money that they are attacking people’s faith; that now even the Neelkanth Mandir will be left in ruins under their bulldozer justice? We can still hear the kirtans which are taking place inside the temple premises today. A couple of days ago, a Bhandara was hosted here and grand events were held during the days of Navratri. However the BJP couldn’t care less about people’s faith, all they are devoted to is corruption and extortion, even if it means tearing a temple down.”
She continued, “We were informed by the locals here that this demolition notice was posted about a week ago. Since yesterday, we have been interacting with the people here, listening to them about their grievances after we received a series of complaints about them receiving extortion and demolition threats. The people of Sriniwaspuri then informed us that a 25-30 year old temple built in Lord Neelkanth’s name has also been slammed with a demolition notice. This protest, this procession is not merely an Aam Aadmi Party initiative, but an agitation which is led by the people here, by the women of Sriniwaspuri, and the entire population of Delhi against BJP’s injustice and they have resolved to not let anyone attack their abode of faith at any cost.”
MLA Shri Madan Lal said, “The ancient Neelkanth Temple in Sriniwaspuri has been slammed with a demolition notice, and people here are baffled at the sheer disrespect for what has been an abode of faith for them over the past 25-30 years. Never in these past few decades has anyone proposed tearing the place of worship of Lord Neelkanth down, but suddenly the BJP has decided to threaten demolition out of its greed for bribes and extortion. The BJP councillors, leaders, officers and everyone else is busy pocketing any and every penny they can lay their hands on through whatever skewed mechanisms of threats and intimidation. They have also stopped caring about Lord Shri Ram, and the only God they worship is the Rupee. This flagrant loot by the BJP and the shocking notice is the reason that everyone gathered here today has made up their mind to not let their party goons tear down this sacred establishment. The BJP clearly has no leash on its unrestrained greed that they have now resorted to issuing notices to places of worship as well. The notice has been slammed by the Central Government where the BJP holds power, through which it aims to threaten and intimidate people so that it can make as much money off of people’s faith as it can.”
He continued, “This protest will continue until we can be sure that this sacred temple faces no threat from the BJP. This Neelkanth Mandir is a symbol of faith for thousands of people, and was not established yesterday. It has been here for decades, and to issue a baseless demolition notice against this ancient symbol is blatant injustice and sacrilegious.”
