On Monday, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Manish Sisodia handed over cheques of Rs 1 crore each to the families of Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital’s late Shri Rajkumar Aggarwal and Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital’s late Shri Ajay Kumar. These brave warriors got infected with COVID while serving patients at the hospital and lost their lives. Shri Rajkumar Aggarwal was deputed as a Nursing Officer, LNJP while Shri Ajay Kumar worked as a Store Purchase Supervisor at GTB Hospital. Post interaction with the families of the COVID warriors at their residence in Shalimar Garden and Dilshad Garden respectively, Shri Sisodia said, “These brave warriors were martyred in Delhi’s fight against COVID and now it’s our responsibility to take care of their families. Under the initiative of the Kejriwal Government to provide support to families of COVID warriors, each has been provided with a Samman Rashi of Rs 1 crore.”
The Deputy Chief Minister added that though this amount is too small in front of the sacrifice of the COVID warriors but will help their families lead a dignified life. He added that in the unprecedented times of COVID, doctors and all the hospital staff worked 24*7 and fought the battle bravely. They not only provided medical support but also emotional support to the families of infected patients during COVID. “Nation salutes the spirit and sacrifice they have made for the country in this battle. We will always be indebted to their sacrifice,” he added.
Shri Manish Sisodia said, “This small effort of the Delhi Government gives confidence to the families of COVID warriors that the government and society are always with them. In future too, if families of COVID warriors will need us anytime, they will find us standing beside them.”
Notably, the Kejriwal government has handed over Samman Rashi of Rs 1 crore each to the families of 36 COVID warriors till date.
