The Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday cornered the BJP for coming to the aid of a serial offender and bona-fide hatemonger Tajinder Bagga. The AAP accused the BJP of grossly misusing the state machinery and police of two states to settle political vendettas. The party further argued that the Delhi Police and Haryana Police went out of line to prevent Tajinder Bagga’s arrest by the Punjab Police and harshly criticised the BJP for stooping to a level so low. AAP Senior Leader and Rajya Sabha MP Shri Sanjay Singh said, “The way BJP has manhandled state machinery and deputed the Delhi Police & Haryana Police to protect Tajinder Bagga, it only proves that it is a party of goons and criminals. AAP Rajya Sabha MP Shri Sanjay Singh said, “As far as the matter of Tajinder Bagga is concerned, there is no doubt in the fact that he is a serial offender. That too, not a petty one, he is a bona-fide hate-monger and fake news spreader. The way in which BJP manhandled its state machinery across two states to protect him and prevent his arrests only adds to the credentials of it being a party of criminals, goons and vandals. They have shown that they can go to any length possible to protect such criminals. The BJP calling it a misuse of state-machinery is no less than Osama Bin Laden talking about non-violence. The BJP must not forget that it was them who raided Delhi CM’s office and home and had the guts to scan his bedroom through the CBI. The same happened with our Deputy CM and our Health Minister. They’ve slapped ED cases on all our Ministers. They illegally arrested 35 MLAs of ours. They even went to the extent of sending 40 policemen to arrest MLA Somnath Bharti’s pet dog. Does the BJP think governance is a joke?”
He added, “They call their CM a Yogi-Baba. That Yogi had filed 9 FIRs against me in a single day. There are 23 cases in my name, including that of sedition for some unknown reason. They sent the police to threaten my wife who was alone at home. They got AAP’s UP headquarters vacated for absolutely no reason but for their muscle. They arrested me in Sitapur with 150 policemen present, but here I am, still standing solid against their tyranny. On the other hand, Tajinder Bagga, that uncouth criminal of theirs, was summoned five times by the Punjab Police. He didn’t join the investigation despite that. This criminal has spread hate and violence from Bengal to Delhi and is now targeting Punjab. The BJP thinks of such a vile criminal to be some hero warrior that needs to be honoured. They have no ounce of shame left in them. It was the BJP whose leaders went to protect a rapist in Noida. It was their people who took out a rally in support of the Kathua and Unnao Rapists.”
He continued, “This is not a political battle. This only sets the record straight that the BJP is home to criminals, goons and thugs. Their modus operandi is to spread hate in the country and incite riots and violence. They don’t want to run governments, they want bloodshed. Inflation is the biggest issue in the country today. To prevent this issue from being discussed, the BJP did its best to spoil the atmosphere in the whole country on Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti. Our little children, who should have pens and books in their hands, were given guns, kattas, and swords by the BJP. I believe the BJP wants to drag the country into hatred and violence because it is not capable of discussing and delivering basic needs such as inflation, unemployment, illiteracy, health, electricity, and water.”
MLA Ms Atishi said, “BJP is a party of hooligans and miscreants. Wherever the BJP has its footprint, you’d see constant violence, harassment, abuse and riots. Tajinder Bagga is nothing but an example of BJP’s hollow mindset. There’s not a single charge out there not registered against Tajinder Bagga. His dossier begins at hate-mongering, organised violence and goes on till inciting riots and further communal divides. It is obvious that if this vile uncouth man tries to harm the peace and harmony of Punjab, the state police will act on it. But to see the BJP come out with all its guns to protect someone who incites riots is a shame for the whole Indian political system.”
She added, “BJP illegally used the aid of the Delhi and Haryana Police to prevent a hooligan of his calibre. This is not new for them, their Delhi Chief, Adesh Gupta himself garlanded and felicitated the goons who attacked CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s house at their headquarters. BJP’s agenda is clear, the more hooliganism, vandalism, rioting and harassment you do, the more power and position you get in the BJP.”
She concluded, “Tajinder Bagga is a history-sheeter. He attacked a 70 year old lawyer inside the Supreme Court, he caused a ruckus at the Ramlila Maidan, he disrupted a book launch and even attacked the author. These are menial crimes for a man of his disrepute though. He boasts of FIRs of forcefully entering people’s homes and inciting communal riots. Had this vile man been innocent, he’d have replied to the Punjab Police’s summons. The matter is now in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, whatever the court says, AAP will honour it. But that being said, this is a stern warning, AAP’s Punjab Government will in no manner tolerate any instance of the state’s peace and harmony being put in harm, and the BJP must not forget it.”
AAP Chief Spokesperson and MLA Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj said, “We are well aware of the criminal background of BJP’s Tajinder Bagga. Every year in the recent past, a series of new cases have been filed against him, be it on accounts of inciting riots, hate speech, hooliganism, spreading communal disharmony and strife, instigating violence between religious communities, attacking a 70-year old lawyer by barging into the Supreme Court premises, causing a riot in his own leader Amit Shah’s Kolkata roadshow, and so on. There is an endless list of lawsuits pending against this man. In fact, the Patiala House Court has even found him guilty in a number of cases. Despite his highly tainted reputation, the BJP has dedicated two of its state police forces to protecting this ‘Gunda’ element. It is highly unfortunate to witness the lengths that the Delhi and Haryana Police are going to in order to keep Tajinder Bagga out of jail. Imagine if tomorrow if the CBI, the ED, or the Income Tax Department decides to conduct a raid in West Bengal or Rajasthan, and the police in the respective state decide to detain these officers – how poorly this would reflect on Indian democracy. The BJP needs to view the matter from this perspective and understand the kind of anti-democratic message it is sending by dedicating entire state police forces towards protecting criminals and hooligans. The entire federal system of the country itself is being threatened as we speak with these actions taken by the BJP. Given BJP’s history of terrorising people and resorting to hooliganism on numerous accounts, their stance on Tajinder Singh Bagga’s case is not surprising.”
He continued, “When it comes to the inter-party strife between the Aam Aadmi Party and the BJP, we witnessed how BJP goons who attacked Delhi CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal’s residence were rewarded by their party headquarters, while the Delhi High Court cracked down upon them. The Delhi Police was also warned by the HC given its negligence which let an incident happen in the first place. It is therefore highly evident that hooliganism and hate mongering is a core instinct of the BJP, and has become a very integral part of its nature. We must believe that the people of our country will no longer tolerate such levels of petty politics, violence, rioting and flagrant hooliganism any longer. Back when Narendra Modi came to power at the Centre in 2014, he did so with the promise of providing employment, developing smart cities, launching bullet trains, taking the nation forward, reducing fuel prices, and to increase the value of the Indian Rupee in the international market. These are the matters on the basis of which the people of our country voted for the BJP. But now that the entire nation is witnessing BJP’s spectacular failure in delivering on said promises, and its members are perpetrating hooliganism and violence, the people will no longer stand for this kind of misgovernance. A case has been filed against Tajinder Bagga, and he will have to appear before the Punjab Police sooner or later. There is no force in the world, and no court in India, that can let an accused sit out the investigation in their own criminal case. Tajinder Bagga will be required to participate in the process, and he will have to cooperate with the Punjab Police.”
