NEW DELHI
To give an economic boost to the national capital, the Kejriwal Government announced the ‘Rozgar Budget’ earlier this year. Dy CM Shri Manish Sisodia announced several schemes which can help people increase their businesses and create more jobs in the city under this vision. Working on a war-footing, the Kejriwal Government has now begun designing frameworks for implementation of said schemes. In this direction, Dy CM Shri Manish Sisodia held a review meeting with the concerned officials and the stakeholders. Shri Sisodia said, “The Kejriwal Government is determined to design policies and schemes that are beneficial to all stakeholders. Several meetings are being conducted with stakeholders to understand their perspective and come up with an efficient framework for implementation of schemes.”
The Deputy Chief Minister said that along with giving an economic boost to the city and creating new jobs, our focus is also on building a new identity of the historical city. “We are focusing on generating business by redeveloping existing markets, food hubs, creating food truck markets and many more. Idea is to provide a new experience to people of Delhi as well as to those visiting from outside,” he said.
Under the Food Truck Policy, in the first phase, agencies have been asked to identify places where food truck markets can be created on the lines of countries like the US, Canada to provide a vibrant nightlife experience to people in the city. These markets will be a catalyst for Delhi’s night-time economy, added Shri Sisodia.
Notably, food truck business is not new in India, but no state in the country ever made a policy to streamline this business and increase job opportunities in this sector. Delhi Government is the first in the country to come up with a Food Truck Policy.
Apart from Food Truck Policy, Finance Minister Shri Manish Sisodia also reviewed the suggestions of stakeholders and projects for redevelopment of iconic city markets, Delhi Shopping Festival, and redevelopment of food hubs. The Kejriwal Government is working in a phased manner on these projects to ensure that projects are completed and implemented on time.
