NEW DELHI / GUJARAT
The Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday kicked off its ‘Ek Moko Kejriwal Ne’ campaign in Gujarat. On this occasion, AAP National Convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal addressed an unprecedented crowd in Rajkot’s Shastri Maidan. He called upon the 6.5 crore people of the state to side with the AAP and opt for change and development while leaving behind the politics of hate, corruption and bigotry. Shri Arvind Kejriwal said, “If you want schools, hospitals, electricity, water & employment vote for AAP; if you want corruption, hooliganism and violence vote for them. BJP leaders are full of arrogance; they think they can’t lose an election because they have been in power for 27 years. I appeal to all Gujaratis to come together and kick the BJP out and vote for AAP so that their arrogance can be shattered. Give AAP just once chance in Gujarat; if you are not pleased, I won’t ask for votes again. Congress & BJP’s sibling-like love has destroyed Gujarat; time to shun both of them out and bring AAP to power. We got a chance to run Delhi, then Punjab and now I ask the people of Gujarat to give us a chance here; I assure you that I will take care of your children’s education and employment. If we could revolutionise Delhi’s education system in just five years, what stopped the BJP from doing so in Gujarat for 27 years. BJP can’t even prevent paper leaks. How can they be trusted to run the government of Gujarat? I have pledged to provide the best possible education to every child of this country; I will not rest until then. CR Patil says Kejriwal a terrorist; how surprising is it that this terrorist is builiding schools & hospitals and giving employment to children. BJP doesn’t want to give free electricity because they want to squander money; vote for AAP and get free electricity 24×7. If AAP forms its government in Gujarat then all senior citizens will be sent on free teerth yatra by our government.”
While addressing a public rally in Rajkot, AAP National Convenor Shri Arvind Kejriwal said, “The Aam Aadmi Party has become a household discussion topic throughout villages and towns all over the country today. In the past 2-3 months, I have paid several visits to Gujarat, while our party workers travelled across the state and visited rural and urban households, gauging the increasing stronghold that we are developing here – it is clear that the Aam Aadmi Party is now being discussed and praised all around. People of Delhi and Punjab have put their faith in me, and have grown increasingly fond of me. And it brings me immense pleasure to witness the love and affection that the people of Gujarat are showering me with as well. I am deeply grateful to you all for all the love, the faith, and the respect that you have bestowed on me.”
He stated, “Countless people from Gujarat pay visits to me in Delhi, as well as on my tours here. They share with me their grievances and often engage in discussions about Gujarat’s progress. Recently, an elderly lady approached me asking me whether I have heard of Lord Ram’s Janmbhoomi Ayodhya and if I have had a chance to visit. I readily responded with a yes, telling her how peaceful and virtuous for the soul. Hailing from a highly impoverished and remote village in Gujarat, she informed me of her financial struggles, and her ardent desire to go to Ayodhya on pilgrimage. I immediately guaranteed her that we will send her to Ayodhya in an AC train, with AC accommodation, and all food, travel, and other expenses taken care of; that we will make sure that each and every senior citizen of Gujarat gets to go on pilgrimage to Ayodhya very soon. I asked her to pray for the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party’s honest government in Gujarat, and all her needs will be met.”
He continued, “I informed her of a scheme we run in Delhi called the Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Yojna, under which we facilitate free pilgrimage tours for all senior citizens. The Delhi Government takes care of, AC travel and accommodation, food, and all other expenses, and ensures a hasslefree and peaceful pilgrimage to places Haridwar-Rishikesh, Ayodhya, Shirdi, Puri, Rameshwaram, Mathura-Vrindavan – a total of 12 such shrines. I hence promised the lady that with her prayers and blessing, once the Aam Aadmi Party comes to power in Gujarat, we will ensure pilgrimage visits for every single senior citizen of the state. The BJP has ruled Gujarat for the past 27 years, but it did not arrange any pilgrimage tour for a single person here. On the other hand, in the past 3 years, I have ensured free pilgrimage for 50,000 senior citizens of Delhi. It is said that BJP State President CR Patil pulls all the strings in the Gujarat government no matter who sits on the Chief Minister throne. I address CR Patil directly when I say what an utter failure their government has been that they have not provided pilgrimage tours for a single person in Gujarat. Once the Aam Aadmi Party forms its government here, we will ensure that each and every senior citizen – all elderly mothers and fathers – pay visits to their desired shrines within the next five years.”
Shri Arvind Kejriwal further said, “I don’t know how to practise petty politics for the sake of power, I simply know how to get work done. Another poor person, who works as a peon at some company here, came to meet me. He told me that his son studies at one of Gujarat Government’s schools, and shared with me his dejection about the extremely poor condition of these schools. He appealed to me to form the government here and bring about the same revolution in Gujarat’s government schools as we have done in Delhi. He had learned about the development in Delhi’s government schools through social media, he said. Our Deputy CM Shri Manish Sisodia also visited the government schools here recently and saw the dilapidated state they were in – decaying walls and ceilings, classrooms locked, and absolutely no sign of education in sight. This is the plight of the education sector in Gujarat thanks to the BJP and its 27 year long misrule. They could not even repair the basic infrastructure in these schools, forget providing a decent education to poor children.”
He added, “Before AAP came to power, the condition of government schools in Delhi was quite similar to this, and even worse in some cases. Within 5 years, we changed the face of these crumbling buildings and empty classrooms; developed fantastic schools and filled them with excellent teachers and earnest students. If you do not take my word for it, the results are impressive enough to make you believe. This year, 99.7% of students passed with flying colours from Delhi’s government schools, leaving private schools far behind in academics. Moreover, 4 lac students left their respective private schools to take admission in Delhi’s splendid government schools. It makes me ecstatic to share that children of the richest industrialists and professionals are now studying in our government schools in Delhi. Students coming from poor backgrounds – a rickshaw driver’s son, a labourer’s daughter – are on their way to becoming successful engineers and doctors. To share an example with you – Gaurav’s father works as a labourer in a factory that makes cartons; both his parents halted their studies after 12th grade. We are all well aware of how difficult it is to get into IITs, but the same Gaurav secured an admission in IIT Dhanbad this year. Another student called Sudhanshu, whose father is a driver and earns a meagre Rs 10,000 per month, and whose family lives in the slums, got admission in IIT Delhi in the Electronic Engineering branch. These are merely 2 examples out of the 450 students who went to attend IITs after graduating from Delhi’s government schools.”
The AAP Convenor continued, “If the Aam Aadmi Party brought about such a revolutionary transformation in the education sector and reformed all the government schools to provide quality education to the children of the poor in merely five years, why has the BJP done nothing to improve the condition of Gujarat’s government schools in over 27 years? Their intentions have been tainted and questionable all along. The BJP had no inclination or aim to provide proper education to the poor children of Gujarat. Its leaders did not come to power to improve schools, or to work for the state’s development; all they have dedicated themselves to for the past 27 years has been looting, plundering, and ruining the people of Gujarat. I am a common man like you all; no one knew of me until some 7-8 years ago. Arvind Kejriwal was not a name known by any, but then God worked its miracles and I was showered with a great deal of love and respect from the people of Delhi, eventually blessed with a big responsibility. Now that we have done the work and delivered on the transformation of Delhi’s government schools, it has led me to believe that each and every government school in the country can be improved the same way. All these other parties have betrayed and cheated the people of this nation time and again. I have sworn to make sure that each and every child in this country receives a proper education, irrespective of whether they are rich or poor.”
He added, “The people of Delhi gave me one chance at governance, which propelled us to a day where we could win in Punjab too. I now call upon the people of Gujarat, give me just one chance; it will be my duty to ensure the best education system for your children; it will be my responsibility to give employment to your children. There’s no party in the whole world that asks for votes in the name of education but for the AAP. We have done this in Delhi and are on track in Punjab as well. I have observed how most parents here send their students to private schools. Not all private schools are bad but their problem is that they act on their fee hikes arbitrarily. I understand that not everyone is fortunate enough to have an education system like Delhi does. But I must point out, it is because of our commitment that private schools have not been allowed to hike their fees for the last seven years. If any school dared to hike their fees, our government took over its management to prevent it. If we could revolutionise Delhi’s schools in just seven years, what stopped the BJP for twenty seven years? They could have but they deliberately did not. They are a party of the rich and that is why they construct those high-end luxury schools for the elite. I want to ask CR Patil — how many schools did you get made for the poor? It is all out in the open. Government schools are closing every day. So far 6,000 government schools have pulled their shutters down.”
He continued, “I saw how CR Patil called me a thug some days back. Does a thug spend his day and night fixing the education system? Does a thug get hospitals built? The reality is, everyone in Gujarat knows that CR Patil is a thug who is trying to run away from his responsibility. CR Patil called me a terrorist. First, I laughed, then I thought I must be some unique kind of a terrorist who his robbing the sleep of the BJP. I mean, what kind of a terrorist sends the underprivileged senior citizens to AyodhyaJi for Shri Ram Lalla’s darshan? I am not here to play politics. I am here to work. To ensure the country progresses rapidly. I met someone on my way here, they said that there’s only one light and a fan in their home yet they get a Rs 4,000 bill every month in Gujarat. On the contrary, in Delhi you pay zero for electricity. If you want a government that gobbles up money vote for them, if you want free electricity vote for AAP. I assure you, we will give free electricity supply 24×7. There will be no power cuts.”
The Delhi CM added, “Today, if someone falls ill in an ordinary family, they have to sell everything they possess to fund the treatment. But this is not the case in Delhi. 2 crore people live in Delhi and all of them enjoy completely free healthcare. Every medicine, every test, every treatment, every operation is done for free. Delhi’s government hospitals were as bad as Gujarat’s before we came to power. Now instead of going to expensive private hospitals, people come to government ones. I met the youth of Gujarat today. They informed me of the despicable state of unemployment in the state. In Delhi, we’ve provided 12 lac jobs while in power. We have now taken the task to generate 20 lac more employment opportunities in the state in the next five years. Only AAP can fix the employment system of Gujarat. I have heard of how Gujarat is the home of paper leaks. The 2014 GPSC Paper Leak, 2015 Talati Paper Leak, Talati Surendra Nagar in 2016, Gandhinagar Paper Leak, 2018 TET Paper Leak in 2018, Chief Sevika Paper Leak in 2018, Nayak Chitnis Paper Leak in 2018. I have one simple question for CR Patil — the BJP can’t even prevent paper leaks, how can the public trust you to run the government? Who leaks these papers? Who is behind them? We all wonder about these questions when we see not a single person be punished for these leaks.”
He continued, “If you want schools, hospitals, electricity, water & employment vote for AAP; if you want corruption, hooliganism and violence vote for them. I am an educated engineer. I am an honest deshbhakt. I know how to run a good government. AAP is made up of only well meaning honest deshbhakts. The BJP is intoxicated by its arrogance. Vote for the AAP just to teach the BJP a lesson and break their arrogance. If you don’t like our work, I will not ask for your vote again. In just two-three visits I have made here, the BJP has sworn some hatred for me. Their leaders abuse me. Their workers attack us. Recently, their workers broke the LED vans we send to the villages to spread our message to the masses. I can’t even count how many times they have broken the bones of our workers at this point. CR Patil, is this the Gujarat of your dreams? The people of Gujarat don’t deserve such tarnish. They don’t believe in violence. You want to win elections through such hooliganism and vandalism? You want to shed the blood of innocent workers for no fault of theirs? If I am coming to Gujarat to talk of my party’s work, you do the same. Why are you committing violence? This only exposes that BJP hasn’t done anything in its 27 year rule. They have nothing to talk about. Is this how Gujarat wants to go into elections?”
Shri Arvind Kejriwal concluded, “A Congress stalwart wanted to join AAP in Gujarat. BJP leaders got to know about it. They threatened him with all their might to stop him from joining AAP. They asked him not to leave Congress. He was also flustered why the BJP doesn’t want him to leave the INC. The BJP leaders told him that Congress is like a sibling to their party. They thrive off each other’s resources. This is why I am asking everyone to shun both the BJP and Congress out for once and for all. Vote for AAP instead. We actually want to work. The people of Gujarat have three questions for BJP — first, even after 27 years, why are the government schools of Gujarat in such a horrific condition? Second, why do all the papers get leaked here? Is it because CR Patil and his men don’t know how to run the system? Third, when will the youth get employment? How long till they suffer? I am only here to raise the voice of the people and seek justice. AAP has no money. We are a party of insignificant ordinary people. I am only asking for one chance for AAP. I assure you will not be disappointed.”
