NEW DELHI
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Manish Sisodia inaugurated the Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence at Netaji Subhash University of Technology (NSUT) on Wednesday. The Center is envisaged to offer multi-dimensional avenues for the university and enhance its capability for advanced research in the field of technology. Speaking at the inauguration, the Deputy Chief Minister said, “Having a center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence is a matter of pride for universities today. It reflects the high-end thinking of the young minds, who are running the university, and taking it ahead of the time.” He said that to match the pace of rapidly growing technology efficient nations we will have to think ahead of the present times and the way to this goes through our universities. If universities will think and innovate ahead of time, then the nation will definitely be ahead of time.
Shri Manish Sisodia said that while working in the past 7-8 years, under the leadership of the Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Government’s aim has been to take the country forward through education. He added that one cannot change the future of the country from a political or a bureaucratic platform. It can be done only by uplifting the colleges, universities and schools of the country. If we want to strengthen the roots of our country then we need to strengthen the school education system and if we want to touch the sky then our university education system needs to be strengthened.
Shri Manish Sisodia said, “Students of our universities securing good packages from companies like Google and Amazon is just the beginning. This shows that our students have potential and our universities need to work with them to take the country to greater heights. Today our students are securing a package of Rs 1.25 cr per annum and with the help of universities, soon they will be able to create the companies that will provide such high paying jobs to others.”
He added that it is a matter of pride that our students are securing packages worth crores, but they are contributing to the economy of other countries. Shri Sisodia said that universities need to add a component of entrepreneurship in their education system so that they are able to prepare students who will create companies like Apple and Google in India and provide employment to the people from countries across the world. This will give a boost to the economy of the country.
Features of center of Excellence In Artificial intelligence

A state-of-the-art supercomputing system comprising DGX A100 with 324 GB RAM and 8 Graphical Processing Units, 100TB storage, smart rack, and high-speed switches has been installed in the center, which is capable of executing training at 5 petaflops and 56 instances can be executed in parallel. center also has 10 high-end workstations having their independent Graphical Processing Units and 256GB RAM are connected to DGX A100 with 10Gbps connectivity. Additionally, 30 terminals have also been provided to cater to the needs of the user. Overall, 40 users can use this facility being in the center itself at a time while many can also access it online simultaneously.
Students and teachers need to think out of the box
On this occasion, Shri Manish Sisodia also interacted with the newly recruited 90 teaching and non teaching staff members of NSUT and said, “Being recruited in a University like NSUT, which is growing at the fast pace is a matter of pride and challenge both. So far the university has reached Rank 3rd in the national ranking and now it is the responsibility of new members in the family to take university at the top. Along with this we also need to focus on international rankings now.
The Deputy Chief Minister also said that for making our way to international rankings teachers and students need to change their habits and mindsets. They need to think out of the box. He mentioned an example of siblings from a village in Punjab who established an IT company in their village and provided employment to engineers and technicians in their village and nearby area. “Until now we thought that IT companies could only flourish in cities like Gurugram and Bengaluru, but these siblings proved it wrong by moving away from the conventional idea of establishing IT companies in metro cities. Similarly, universities and students also need to move away from such conventional ideas now, only then will we be able to take our country on the path of progress,” he said.
It is to be noted that, according to the latest rankings on higher education institutes and innovation, NSUT has been ranked 2nd in Times Ranking, 7th in India Today ranking, and 3rd in ARIIA ranking.
