But in the last 2 years, this virus has created such an orgy of death across the world that there will hardly be anyone who is saved from its havoc. This virus took away from us many veterans who raised India’s height in the world of sports in 2021. The biggest name in this is ‘Flying Sikh’ i.e. Milkha Singh. The 91-year-old veteran sprinter died in June this year due to coronavirus. Just as Milkha did not hesitate to compete with big athletes on the track. He also fought with this virus for a whole month. Sometimes his health would get better, sometimes worse. Finally, on the night of June 18, he left this world.

A few days before Milkha Singh, his wife and former Indian volleyball team captain Nirmal Kaur also died due to corona infection. Apart from this, Corona wreaked havoc in the world of cricket as well. Not only in India, many former international players, first class cricketers and cricket administrators lost their lives due to this virus across the world. It also includes former South African all-rounder John Watkins. Watkins, who played 15 Tests for South Africa, died in Durban on September 3, 2021. Watkins was 98, the oldest living Test cricketer at that time.

Apart from him, 36-year-old leg-spinner Vivek Yadav, who played domestic cricket for Rajasthan, also died due to corona. Vivek died on 5 May 2021 in a hospital in Jaipur. Vivek was a member of the Rajasthan team that won the Ranji Trophy in the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons. He took 57 wickets in first class cricket between 2008 and 2013.

Apart from Vivek, the former captain and national selector of Rajasthan cricket team, Kishan Rungta, was also snatched from us by Corona. Kishan played 59 first-class matches between 1953 and 1970 and scored 2717 runs. He died on May 1, 2021 in a hospital in Jaipur. Being a national selector, he selected the Indian cricket team several times in the 90s under the captaincy of Mohammad Azharuddin.

Two priceless hockey stars gone
Former Indian hockey players MK Kaushik and Ravinder Pal Singh died due to Corona this year. Both of them left the world on the same day on 8th May. MK Kaushik was a member of the Indian hockey team that won the last gold medal at the 1980 Moscow Olympics. He was also the coach of the Indian hockey team. Under his coach, the Indian men’s team won the gold medal in the Bangkok Asian Games 1998. At the same time, Ravinder Pal Singh was also a member of the team that won the gold medal in the Moscow Olympics.

For Indian women’s cricket team player Veda Krishnamurti, 2021 has been a year to never forget. He lost his mother and sister due to this virus. The father of RP Singh, Piyush Chawla and Pradeep Sharma, who played for India, also traveled from this world due to the virus.

Apart from this, international bodybuilder Jagdish Lad died of corona on 30 April this year at the age of 34. He had been Mr. India and won the silver medal in the World Championship. Apart from this, Corona also did not leave 89-year-old shooter Chandro Tomar, popularly known as Shooter Dadi.
