JOHANNESBURG: India’s opener and vice-captain KL Rahul on Friday said that the team has prepared better this time than its previous tour of 2018 South Africa. He further said that coming here early has helped us to prepare well. India will begin the three-match Test series against South Africa at Centurion’s SuperSport Park from Sunday.
Rahul said in the virtual press conference, “We are a little better prepared than last time. Hopefully Mayank Agarwal and I will start well and give the team the lead. The pace and bounce here is different from all other places in the country. So, we came here early and are practicing accordingly. We had a lot of days to prepare.”
This is Rahul’s second visit to South Africa after 2018 and the right-handed batsman believes the pitches here will pose a challenge.
“I haven’t played a lot of matches in South Africa, but my experience is that the pitches here can be challenging,” he said.
