The LG has refused to lift the weekend curfew and odd-even arrangement of shops despite getting a proposal from the Kejriwal Government to reduce curbs, informed AAP Chief Spokesperson and MLA Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj on Friday. He stated — Delhi Government had sent a proposal to the LG asking him to lift the weekend curfew and odd-even system imposed in Delhi. The LG is a representative of the BJP’s Central Government; it is clear that the BJP wants to destroy every single business running in Delhi. How can the BJP justify shutting shops in Delhi when shops in BJP ruled cities like Noida, Ghaziabad and Gurugram are up and running?
Shri Saurabh Bhardwaj said, “It’s very unfortunate that the LG has rejected the strong demand of traders and business community with regards to the Covid restrictions. The LG has rejected the proposal of the elected government of Delhi despite the fact that corona cases are reducing at a very fast pace. When all the markets of Gurugram and Noida are open, why should the business community of Delhi be made to suffer by BJP’s Central Government.”
He added “I met with people from the Greater Kailash Market Association and they informed me that due to the odd-even arrangement of shops opening and the weekend curfew, they could only run their business for 2 days last week, and will be 3 days next week. Due to these 2-3 days of running shops, the shopkeepers are facing great troubles and it is becoming hard for them to even run their households. The wages of the poor people working at these shops have also been deducted due to the decline in sales, hence causing them to struggle even more. Meanwhile the BJP in Delhi is running a false campaign, plotting a conspiracy in which they are sending messages to Delhi’s market associations that CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal is disrupting Delhi’s businesses.”
He added, “People from the BJP are found arguing that does COVID not exist in Haryana or UP – that shops in these states have not been shut, but are being shut in Delhi? Today, the BJP and its twisted motives have been exposed because the Delhi Government itself held a press conference and sent a proposal to the LG to remove the weekend curfew and the odd-even system. The proposal said that the situation in Delhi is improving and hence these restrictions must be lifted.”
He concluded, “The Lieutenant Governor is a representative from BJP’s Central Government and has deliberately forced Delhi to impose the weekend curfew and odd-even arrangement of shops. The Delhi Disaster Management Authority is chaired by the LG, in which the elected Delhi Government can only present a proposal, and the final decision belongs to the LG. Today, all those politicians of the BJP have been exposed, as despite requests and proposals from the Delhi Government, BJP’s representative, the LG neither removed the weekend curfew, nor the odd-even system of opening of shops.”
