The BJP-ruled South MCD is throwing taxpayers’ money down the drain. An MCD parking lot worth Rs 102 crores has completely drowned in water, informed AAP Senior Leader and MCD in-charge Shri Durgesh Pathak. He stated — One can’t find cars in MCD’s Sarai Jullena Parking because of 5-6 ft high water logging; the whole complex looks like a pool. BJP only cared about earning its commission while making the parking; no has even checked the drastic condition of the complex. At the same time South MCD LOP Shri Prem Chauhan said that the MCD must shut down the parking complex immediately and the building is completely dilapidated, posing a huge risk.
Shri Durgesh Pathak said, “The Bharatiya Janata Party ruled MCD is so deeply tainted with corruption, that if we will tire from counting instances of scams caused. Through their series of corruption, they have looted the people of Delhi, misused Delhi’s taxpayers’ money. One such example concerns the area of Sarai Jullena next to New Friends Colony, which comes under the South MCD. The residents of Sarai Jullena had been hoping for a proper parking place to be constructed in their area for a long time, after which an underground parking space, costing 102 crores, was inaugurated in 2019. However, since then it has not been functional at all and it has been home to nothing but water. It is filled with water levels measuring 5-6 feet, of which we have proof in the form of a video that we have shared with the public.”
He continued, “South MCD Leader of Opposition Prem Chauhan has stated in the video that it is a parking facility built by the South MCD, led by the BJP. The amount of water is clearly visible. The water level is reaching all the way to one’s waist. The BJP spent approximately Rs 102 crore to construct this parking lot. Vehicle parking is not possible in any way in this parking facility because it has transformed into a full-fledged swimming pool. One could also say that this is the epicentre of the spread of dengue fever in Delhi. The parking lot’s walls are dripping wet. This structure has also begun to deteriorate as a result of continuous water infiltration.”
He continued, “Given the state of the underground parking, it is clear that the BJP built it solely with the purpose of earning commission money. After its inauguration, no BJP leader went over to check its implementation and if the lot was even operational, whether any vehicles were being parked there or not. I firmly demand that this parking lot should be closed down. All of the perpetrators behind this scam of a parking space should be held accountable. The leaders of the BJP who were involved in the construction of this parking lot should be investigated. Adesh Gupta has time and again said that ‘the Municipal Corporation of Delhi is doing an excellent job’. But if this is what you offer in the name of ‘excellent job’, then the public does not want you governing them. Adesh Gupta should go over and inspect the parking situation firsthand. This can either be declared as a dirty swimming pool or a dengue hotspot, for it does not serve the purpose of parking in any manner.”
Expressing his condemnation with the public funds being misappropriated, Shri Durgesh Pathak said, “A staggering 102 crores were squandered in the name of this parking construction. There is no way that all that money was spent on this parking facility. The truth is that BJP leaders squandered this money allocated for the underground parking. Money that belonged to the people of Delhi was completely wasted by the BJP-ruled MCD. The BJP members in MCD are not doing their job well at all; they are failing on all accounts. I’d like to suggest Adesh Gupta to watch this video, visit the area, and assess the parking lot’s condition. The parking lot was inaugurated by Member of Parliament Shri Ramesh Bidhuri, who should also watch this video as proof of BJP’s incompetence. Delhi is the country’s capital. Delhi is India’s crown, and your party has completely ransacked it with its corruption fuelled antics. You have tainted Delhi’s reputation. You will not be forgiven by the people of Delhi. They will exact vengeance from you in the upcoming elections, and all your assets will be snatched away from you.”
