New Delhi:
Women and Child Development Minister Shri Rajendra Pal Gautam conducted a surprise inspection of the government’s Child Protection Home and Correctional Home today.
Shri Rajendra Pal Gautam inspected both the homes, in which he paid special attention to cleanliness and facilities being provided to the children. During the inspection, he also interacted with all the children. The children shared their future plans with the minister. The Minister encouraged the children to move ahead and fulfil their dreams and also become good citizens of the society.
Principal Secretary Shri Sandeep Kumar was advised by the Minister that in future, the department should ensure a continuous dialogue with the children and staff in which the minister himself and the IAS/administrative officers would be present.
This will help in establishing a direct communication with the children and raise their self-confidence and standard of living. It will also ensure that all the problems in the institution such as improvement, maintainance or providing any facilities etc can be resolved and addressed quickly.
Shri Rajendra Pal Gautam said, “Our aim is that all the ashrams of the Delhi government should be world-class like the government schools of Delhi and the entire country should adopt it as a model. We want the children in these homes to have a bright future for which we will provide all facilities and training”.
Shri Anurag Kundu, Chairperson of Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights, suggested to the Minister that work should be done in such institutions through scientific data and research, under which an assessment can be made regarding increasing the level of psychological, sports and entertainment facilities.
The Minister instructed the officials of the department to implement these suggestions and also directed them to remove all shortcomings in the existing facilities. Every effort is being made by the Kejriwal government in Delhi to improve the future of children in correction homes with utmost sensitivity.
