NEW DELHI:
Delhi’s Minister of Women and Child Development, Shri Rajendra Pal Gautam announced today that the honorarium of all Anganwadi workers and helpers will be increased. With this decision, Delhi becomes the only state to give the highest honorarium to Anganwadi workers throughout the country.
Women and Child Development Minister Shri Rajendra Pal Gautam said, “In 2017, the Delhi government had increased the salary of Anganwadi workers from ₹ 5000 to ₹ 9678 and that of Anganwadi helpers from ₹2,500 to ₹4,839 – keeping the semi skilled work and working hours in mind. Keeping in view of the rising inflation, and the recent strike, the Kejriwal government has taken the decision to once again increase the honorarium of Anganwadi workers and helpers in Delhi. Till now, the honorarium of Anganwadi workers in Delhi was ₹9,678 and the workers honorarium was ₹4,839. It is being increased to ₹12,720 and ₹6,810, respectively. With this decision, Delhi becomes the only state in India to give the highest honorarium to Anganwadi workers.”
The Minister explained the breakup of the honorarium as well. He said, “An Anganwadi worker will be given an honorarium of ₹11,220 along with which she will be given conveyance/communication allowance of ₹1,500. Hence a total of ₹12,720 will be earned by each Anganwadi worker. Similarly, an honorarium of ₹5,610 will be given to each Anganwadi helper along with which she will be given ₹1,200 as conveyance/communication allowance. Hence a total of ₹6,810 will be earned by each Anganwadi helper. All the workers and helpers will be able to spend on their travel and mobile etc through the conveyance/communication allowance.”
Minister Shri Rajendra Pal Gautam added, “A few days back, I had a meeting with some Anganwadi unions in which they presented a list of their demands. We informed them that we will come to a positive decision regarding their demands in the next 7 days. Today, I’m happy to announce that our government has delivered on its promise, and that in less than a week we have increased the honorarium of Anganwadi workers and helpers in Delhi. I want to assure everyone that the Kejriwal Government is sensitive towards the demand of the Anganwadi workers in these difficult times. This decision has been given Cabinet’s approval and will be implemented from March 1st 2022 itself.”
He also appealed to the Anganwadi workers and helpers to report on their duty now so that children and pregnant women can get their prescribed ration and the country can win in this war of malnutrition.
